I might try it, but, like Eileen, I am a purist as well. We have a "spot" that we LOVE, right in front of the Castle for the fireworks, and we typically watch them while eating a caramel apple from the Confectionery...it's tradition.
I would really like to see some pictures of the dessert assortment to know if the price is worth it. It does sound interesting though.
I bet it's the same stuff they have for the Fantasmic Dessert Party. There was one of those during the Passporter Decade of Dreams trip recently, and lots of people have posted about taht in the trip reports section.
$46 for my family of 3 to eat ice cream and watch the fireworks seems pretth steep IMO, especially if you not one of the lucky ones on the rail with the view. I'll grab an ice cream elsewhere and get a better view as well. Afterall, how much ice cream can one really eat anyway?
Over on the DISBoards, someone posted a review of the first night of this party w/ lots of pictures. It's definitely more than ice cream!!! Creme Brulee, tiramisu, all kinds of pastries and yummy things in shot glasses, man it looked good! Good enough to possibly change my earlier opinion to a must do once. Glad it ends before my trip, as it woudl play havoc w/ my diet.

Thanks so much for letting us know that - I just searched the DIS boards and found it.... holy cow. For a dessert junkie like myself, that is pure heaven. Complete heaven!!! I would literally skip dinner and fill up on dessert that night. Ever single one of those looked sooooo that I'd have to try 1 (or 2) of everything!!

Desert for dinner, wouldn't be the first time I've done that
I just got reservations for our first night on vacation. It was not an easy feat!!! DH and I are going on vacation Aug. 22 - 29. I tried the 23, 25, 26, 27 and was told they were all full. Good news travels fast I guess!
FYI - if you call for reservations, don't let them transfer you from Dining to Recreation. That's what they did to me the first time I called and it added another 20 minute wait. The CM that answered in recreation sounded confused, but said she could help. (unfortunately there were no available times on the days we wanted, so that was time I'll never get back) DH and I decided to try to squeeze in the Dessert Party after our CRT reservation on the 22nd, so I called back to see if I could get a spot. This time I got a wonderful CM who was very helpful and when I asked about being sent to Recreation, she said that shouldn't have happened. It definitely should be handled by the Dining Dept.
Thanks for the info and the links! Sounds cool, I think we would enjoy it, but unfortunately it ends before our trip. I wonder if it might be continued past the end date if it is well-recieved......
