Post MAJOR Dining Plan changes in store and other food news

ALL PLANS (unless noted otherwise)

Cosmetic changes and easier reading
  • Organized things in general to make brochures easier to understand, easier on the eyes, and clearer.
  • The example of snack food no longer has colored images but now uses black Mickey head bullets.
  • Bright blue B icon for buffets.
  • Bright green G icon for Gratuity included
  • Quick Service brochure is the same size but got a major overhaul with new information added and the list of restaurants as been moved to the middle not the back of the paper.
  • New section showing a receipt and how credits are deducted.

Restaurant Listings - Changes
  • Restaurants are now listed as Quick Service, Table Service, Character Dining, Pizza Delivery, In-Room Dining, and Signature Dining. The old list of restaurants was alphabetical by type of service such as QS then TS. This allows Disney to list what is included in that type of meal and any other information.
  • Restaurants are now listed under the appropriate section. Diamond Horseshoe is QS for lunch and over in table service. Le Cellier Steakhouse for lunch is under table service and dinner is under signature dining. Hollywood and Vine has breakfast and lunch under character while dinner is under table service. Ohana is character meals for breakfast and table service for dinner.
  • Trail's End has two listing under Table Service as follows:
Trail’s End Restaurant (B,D) B,<--- icon for BUFFET
    Trail’s End Restaurant (L)
  • They combined the section on how to make reservations with are
reservations required. They have bolded a couple more words and have added the online dining reservation URL. Also elsewhere they added the URL for online dining reservations.
  • "How will I be able to keep track of the number of meals used"
    has been clarified.
  • Art of Animation Resort has been added
  • Boardwalk eateries are now listed with Boardwalk Inn eateries
  • Premium and Platinum plans lost Grand Floridian spa and Inspiration: Through Walt’s Eye tour. I think they got longer brochures
  • Tortuga Tavern (seasonal) (L) finally got its name changed
  • Yakitori House (L,D) is no longer listed
  • Grand Gatherings is no longer mentioned

Explaining rules and how the system works.
  • New Mickey head bullet to show that kids must order from the kid menu.
  • "A gratuity may also be added
automatically for ordered items that are not included in the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan (e.g. alcoholic beverages)" was deleted
  • t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics" was added as being prohibited clothing for signature dining.
  • New question was added to the information section.
"Can Guests substitute meals for a snack?
    A. No, Guests may not substitute meal entitlements for a snack"
  • • Merchandise and Photo Imaging
    CHANGED TO READ:
Items that are considered Merchandise (such as Bottle Toppers,
    Glow Cubes and Bottle Straps)
  • not included items phrase " and some bottled drink" was deleted so it just says alcoholic beverages
  • Items that are more than a single serving (such as a box of
doughnuts or a jar of peanut butter) were added to the exclude item section
  • ADDED "Items (such as popcorn or drinks) that are served in a Souvenir
Container" (this replaced the souvenir mug clause and covers everything now served or in the future served.)
  • Clarification on what gratuities are included and not included. .

As applies to the dining plan, for example, you won't find Character meals on Quick Service menus.
QUICK SERVICE
  • Art of Animation Landscapes Cafe
  • BoardWalk Bakery (B,L,D)
  • BoardWalk Pizza Window (L,D)
  • The Turtle Shack is a pool bar that I missed when doing this list
  • The Paddock Grill (L,D) Saratoga Springs
  • The Diamond Horseshoe (seasonal) (L)
  • The Friar’s Nook (L,D)
  • Golden Oak Outpost (L,D)
  • Katsura Grill (L,D)
  • Min & Bills Dockside Diner (L,D)
  • Beastly Kiosk (L,D) in AK, on Discovery Island area, it has a bright red tile roof, sells snacks, blue little building.
  • Mr. Kamal’s (L,D) they sell 3 flavors of boneless chicken wings in AK
  • Lowtide Lou’s (L) Typhoon Lagoon
  • Snack Shack (L) Typhoon Lagoon
  • Surf Doggies (L) Typhoon Lagoon
  • Cooling Hut (L) Blizzard Beach
  • Bongos Cuban Cafe™ Window (L,D) Downtown Disney
  • Marketplace Snacks (L,D) Downtown Disney

TABLE SERVICE
  • Rainforest Cafe (B,L,D) Animal Kingdom location
  • Bongos Cuban Cafe (L,D) Downtown Disney
  • House of Blues® (L,D) Downtown Disney
  • Paradiso 37 (L,D) Downtown Disney
  • Portobello (L,D) Downtown Disney
  • Rainforest Cafe (L,D) Downtown Disney
  • T-REX Cafe (L,D) Downtown Disney

OTHER CATEGORIES
  • Art of Animation Pizza Delivery (Pizza Section)
  • Bistro de Paris(D) Epcot (Signature Dining Section)
  • Flying Fish Cafe (D) Boardwalk (Signature Dining Section)
  • Fulton’s Crab House (L,D) Downtown Disney (Signature Dining Section)
  • Wolfgang Puck: The Dining Room (D) Downtown Disney (Signature Dining Section)
  • ‘Ohana’s Best Friends Breakfast featuring Lilo & Stitch (B) (Character Meals section)

I am very tired and not awake but had to get this list out now.

FOOD NEWS
  • Todd English's bluezoo bar has a touch screen menu that lets you click on wines and drinks to see more information. The Disney Food Blog should be doing a piece soon on this bar menu. Togaroshi dog? interesting items including flatbread on their menu.
  • Ohana no longer has bread pudding and now serves pineapple coconut bread pudding with caramel sauce according to a reader at Chip and Co.
Read more Menu Changes at Ohana’s – Bye Bye Bread Pudding
Menu Changes at Ohana’s – Bye Bye Bread Pudding
  • Contempo Cafe will give you one big Mickey waffle instead of two square waffles.
  • Itzakadoozie pops have been removed from the Epcot ice cream novelty list. They’ve been replace by this Triple Blast Ice Pop. Mango gelato has been added to those carts, it is sugar free and came out recently as some restaurant.
  • An excellent report on Vegan dining at Boma
Kait's Inside Dish: Boma, Flavors Of Africa

Thank you for noting Grand Gatherings ending. I just list all the changes I see even if they were reported long ago like Yakitori House.

Rules: The brochures now are making sure guests know the rules even if CMs later allow such rules to be broken. They are emphasizing no souvenir buckets, plates, mugs ecetera are in the plan; no sharing with anyone not on your plan; no more multiple serving packs such as a dozen donuts; and no substituting meal credits for snacks.

Online dining is now mentioned at least twice. There is a push to get people to understand how best to eat at WDW. Get reservations, use online reservations, and talk to chefs about special diets. They still mention healthy options. Hopefully people will better understand WDW dining.

The ease of using the brochure is what I love. No more restaurant then service type then other information. Everything is in their own category and that category is explained. The only icons are the buffets and the gratuities icons. They got rid of the icons for the snack credit examples and replaced them with black Mickey heads. That is so much easier on the eye than blotches of color.

I am going to try to reorganize this.
The Paddock Grill (L,D) Saratoga Springs (QS section) is the pool bar for that resort..
Paddock Pool at Saratoga Springs Menu The list breakfast so wait and see if they will allow coffee and drinks to be dining plan while other things are not, who knows.

BIG CHANGE: 7 new table service restaurants, 4 signature restaurants, and a handful of quick service are added to the list. This will give parents a kid friendly table restaurant at Animal Kingdom and 2 more at Downtown Disney. A lot more options for guests to choose from and I would love to do Flying Fish Cafe.

Be forewarned that what used to happen may not apply now. Parents might start flocking to the kid friendly table service restaurants thus eliminating them quiet afternoons in nearly empty restaurants.

AMC dining, Babycakes, and Ghiradelli did not make the list YET.

It is in the original post, still need to tidy up but scroll from the top down and you will see them listed by QS, TS, and others including Art of Animation dining. I do not know if some places like Beastly Kiosk were on the plan but not listed, at this time. Some new names are just name changes like Tortuga Tavern.

Here are the new ones that I know of for sure. A few were allowed on the Platinum and Premium plans like DTD' Rainforest Cafe.

Rainforest Cafe (B,L,D) Animal Kingdom location
Bongos Cuban Cafe (L,D) Downtown Disney
House of Blues® (L,D) Downtown Disney
Paradiso 37 (L,D) Downtown Disney
Portobello (L,D) Downtown Disney
Rainforest Cafe (L,D) Downtown Disney
T-REX Cafe (L,D) Downtown Disney
Art of Animation Pizza Delivery (pizza section)
Art of Animation Landscapes Cafe (QS section)
Bongos Cuban Cafe™ Window (L,D) Downtown Disney (QS section)
Marketplace Snacks (L,D) Downtown Disney (QS section)
Bistro de Paris(D) Epcot (Signature Dining Section)
Flying Fish Cafe (D) Boardwalk (Signature Dining Section)
Fulton’s Crab House (L,D) Downtown Disney (Signature Dining Section)
Wolfgang Puck: The Dining Room (D) Downtown Disney (Signature Dining Section)

On the plan you do appetizers and desserts so look at menus and decide which one will probably cost more. Which restaurant would you share or skip appetizers and desserts? I would probably do T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe on the dining plan.

I'm pleased about that as well, as that's one of the things that have put me off trying it and I've heard great things about it.
