Fantasmic Dinner Pkg. or not???

Can't decide whether to book Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic Pkg. or just go with 50's Prime Time.

On April 17th (a busy time) what would the regular line look like to get into Fantasmic? We have only done the package, has anyone gone in the regular line? Is is important to book the package? Is the line that horrendous?

If we decide to book H and V, then we would be sure to come back another night to eat at 50's PT because we've heard so many fun and great reviews.

Help!

I've never booked the Fantasmic package ( I don't care for the show ) but I can say that my experience at H&V was less than magical. 50's PT is so much better!!!!

Edited to add: Mama Melrose, which is on the package, is great, too.

We wouldn't do Fantasmic without the dining package. Just gives me peace of mind.

Here's our experience using the Fantasmic Dining Package in July: Williams Family: Benefits of the Fantasmic Dining Package at Disney's Hollywood Studios

We've had the Fantasmic Dining Package twice and have it booked for our next trip in March.

Good luck!

We absolutely loved doing the Fantasmic package. We ate at Mama Melrose's. One thing I loved about the fact that we picked MM for the package, they have a fixed menu for those on Dinning plan that includes a appetizer, entree, and dessert. Loved it! November 2010 the fixed menu included Mussels for one of the appetizer options.

Another vote for Fantasmic Package. Especially in the spring when you will be there when it's busier. We go to Mama Melrose's and like the poster above said, it's a special meal package that includes an appetizer too! (Calimari is AWESOME!). But it is wonderful to have a great dinner and leisurely head over to Fantasmic, walk right in and have a designated seat, no waiting in lines. The seats are absolutely great, we have always been very happy. I don't think we would do it any other way! Disappointed for our trip this month that Fantasmic is not showing but we're still going to Mama Melrose's anyway!!! But we'll have to pay for appetizer OOP . Whichever restaurant you choose, you will love Fantasmic Package.

We did the Fantasmic dinner package for the first on our trip last month, we ate at MM, the food was yummy and it included a free appetizer per person. For dessert the Chocolate Amarettini Cheesecake, is too die for, it was the best dessert I had all week. Although the skies opened up and it poured on us that we had to leave half way through it was nice not having to stand on long lines.

Good luck!
Our feelings exactly. We did Fantasmic with the dinner at H & V during our first trip (which led to the great disney do-over). This was one of the more stressful days/nights of that very stressful trip. There is absolutely no way we would have endured it if we did not have reserved seating. It was the day before Thanksgiving so the parks were crowded--but it had been raining most of the day which I can only assume kept the crowds below what they otherwise would have been.

We skipped fantasmic during our last trip but plan to try it again next August. We will plan to book the fantasmic package!

Yes yes and YES The first time I did the package many years ago Disney changed the way the Fantasmic Dining package worked and there was no seperate line for people on the package so we were crammed in that long waiting area from the street to the stadium (it seems like miles and miles and it's wall to wall people ) so I thought this is definitely not worth it. When we went recently from 12/17 to 12/23 we did not have the package and I sooo wished we did because they now have a seperate line for FDP and those people walked in at different times with no lines, no crowds and no problems!!

If you are traveling with young kids the standby Fantasmic line can be horrrible. I would never wait there with my DD(3) so the package is well worth it to my family for that reason alone.

If I was going to see Fantasmic again I would def book the pkg. I would book MM though having had a horrible experience at H&V and while I love the food at HBD, our service was lacking last time.
