Dining plan (DDP) package question [does everyone in the room have to be on it?]

I did look around, but haven't seen anything, sorry if this is a repeat question.
We are going with the in-laws to WDW, staying @ BCV under their points. I know when DDP started if one person bought DDP, everyone had to. My questions are, is this still the rule and if so are we able to choose different plans?
I do not like the DDP if it's deluxe, I wasted so much food last time, and pray I don't have to choose this one if my in-laws do.
TIA!

The DDP is only sold for everyone age 3 and up staying in the room, all on the same plan. That part hasn't changed.

Yes, if you are staying in the same room as your parents, then you all have to purchase the same dinning plan or none at all.

I wish they would changed that, especially when we have 3 different couples. Oh well, I will just go with it.
