Microchipped Resort Mugs [RFID mugs tested at All Star Sports]
So I just read from a facebook page that at some resorts, you are allowed a certain amount of refills? I thought it was endless no matter where you were?
They are still refillable for the exact timeframe of the vacation in which they are purchased. The only limitation I've heard of is that you cannot refill them until five minutes have passed since the last fill up.
....the "micro-chipped" mugs...(if in use....it was a trial run at one of the values)....do give you unlimited refills....but...there is a 5 minute time limit in between fillings. They want to keep those with "chipped" mugs...from filling up other..."non-qualifying" mugs...by pouring from one to another.
Hmmmm...this is interesting to read here. This friend of mine was saying that they were only allowed 10 refills a day on their mugs. And, also the 5 minutes in between refills.
I'm sure the dispensers are infinitely programmable, so anything is possible. But I'd never heard that they'd put a limit on the number of refills per day....
I did a little digging and read lots of reports, and none of them mentioned a per-day limit. Just the 5-minute limit to keep guests from pouring unlimited drinks into other containers.
I really am concerned about these regarding split stays...We live to bounce around resorts because we typically go 1x year or less and we like the different themes... This makes me more likely to not purchase the mugs at all and stick with pop in the room.
Some of the articles I read said that Disney is listening to guest comments regarding split stays.
I would think that the software controlling these RFID-enabled dispensers would allow programming that could handle a split stay. It would just be a case of having the account updated to reflect that the mugs would be good at resort #2 until check-out day from that resort.

I would have to agree with this. I imagine it could work just like the KTTW cards.
I would say that if they are going to spend MICROCHIP money for something like soda I would give the mug the heave ho.
It was a shock when the price jumped from $12.95 to $14.95 from one visit to the next.
We were given mugs with our DDP in March and I was planning on bringing them with us in Oct. even though we would be using the DDP then too.
Do they think they are going to win friends over pennies on soda?
