Question about the Dining package

We're getting the dining package that includes 1 snack, 1 quick service and 1 sit down dinner a day per person.

If you don't want the dessert with the sit down dinner, can they somehow put it on your dining plan as another snack? (or something else?)

No, but you can get something to go and take it to your room for later.

It usually depends on any given restaurant's manager and/or server but they can usually substitute the dessert for an appetizer or salad or something like that as long as it is along with your meal. They can also box up the dessert if you would rather get it and save it for later . . . or you can just tell them you don't want dessert.

They can not, however, transfer the dessert into a snack credit.

We got to the point where we couldn't take another dessert, so we got fruit platters and took them back to the room for breakfast the next day. And there's nothing wrong with cake for breakfast when you're on vacation!

We had heard that some restaurants do this, but it was our experience this last trip that they didn't. I suggest not eating your quick service dessert and splurging on the TS dessert. They are more worth it.

So you get a dessert with each meal (TS and sit down?)

Yes -- each counter service meal comes with a dessert (usually a cookie or a brownie - and often quite portable.) Each table service also comes with a dessert, but these are plated and much more complex. The restaurant should have to-go containers for you to take them with you.

Keep in mind that it can be a hassle to carry the to-go container with you. Sometimes, it's just not worth it to take it with you.

So maybe we'll take the counter service dessert with us instead. That is more realistic for us.

We usually get cookies for the QS desserts when possible. If no one wants to eat them right away, I throw them in my bag (I take a few baggies just in case they aren't wrapped) and if the kids, usually meaning my younger son, are complaining about being hungry in the afternoon, I pull out the cookie. No, it's not the most healthy snack, but hey, it's vacation!

Some of the CS also have cakes in round plastic cups that are also easily portable. I've never had a TS sub. appie for dessert, but they will give you fruit for dessert.

I plan to eat dessert with our TS meal and then the QS meal dessert take for a snack later for myself or more like who does get hungry in the afternoon. My snack I will use for a breakfast type item.

We did the QS meal plan last time, and quite often requested fruit as the desert. We also would a)request a receipt to go back and get the desert if my husband or oldest wanted ice cream, or b) get a pre-packaged desert to save for later.

This is the only instance I'm aware of where they do this -- if you want a dessert that would otherwise melt/be ruined if you took it with you when you got the rest of the meal.
