We've been there with our kids several times and it's fine. The restaurant is separated from the performance area and I didn't find it louder than any other restaurant. My DS was 11 last time and ordered one of the adult appetizers instead of an entree so I don't think you'd have any problem ordering a salad.
I really enjoyed House of Blues, the one time I went. The menu is really extensive so guess you'll have no problems ordering salad as an entree. The ribs were particularly delicious. Also, you used to be able to get some good coupons with a bit of research. We used a restaurant.com voucher and saved a fortune. It might be worth checking if they are still participating in that program.

Good idea, then we can use our sit down dinner from the dining plan somewhere else.
HOB doens't participate in Restaurant.com anymore, sorry!
I haven't been there since they re-did the menu, but some of the good things stayed on it. My last trip (May 2011), I had the ribeye, salad and the skillet of cornbread. Yum!!!! No, I didn't eat the whole skillet ; I took the leftovers back to the room for breakfasts.
