Hoop De Doo and Fantasmic

So, I've been looking at the DDP and I'm thinking that we might not get it this time. I've been comparing prices and it just doesn't seem like its worth it. I think we can eat for a lot less paying OOP.

However we would like to do Hoop De Doo and Fantasmic, along with our other ADRs.

Is there anything I need to be aware of for either of these special events, i.e. any costs involved, etc.?

Also, I'm assuming that for Hoop De Doo, we just show up.

However, for Fantasmic, I know we have to make reservations for our ADR. Do I have to tell them that its for Fantasmic? Also, I thought I read somewhere that you have to show up an hour early for Fantasmic. Is that correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You still need to make an ADR for Hoop Dee Doo, and pick which tier of seating you want. Without the DP you'll also pay for your reservation at time of booking.

When you make your Fantasmic Dining package you need to tell them it's for that package and then they will tell you what times are available for meals. They tend to be afternoon (2-4pm) times though, so be aware it won't be normal dinner time. Then you arrive at the F!DP entrance (by Tower of Terror) about 45 min before the start of the show.

I did a spreadsheet to compare oop vs ddp

The difference for the TS meals was minimal.
It's easier to prepay than to have to deal with having money for food.
For us anyway

We are also trying OOP this year and, based on our calculations (in the planning stage), I think we will spend less.

Definitely make an ADR for HDDR. You can choose your seating preference (price differs for each seating category). It is a great show!

You book the Fantasmic ADR as a package. There were no additional charges for this. We did not show up an hour before (maybe 30-40 minutes) but expect large crowds waiting and know that your seat will depend on the time you arrive (even with the reserved seating...).

I did the same thing, and for me and DD (13), its cheaper OOP, mostly because we don't eat appetizers and desserts with every meal, nor do we want to. I also don't drink much soda. Eliminating those things also lowers the tips.

When we did the QS dining plan, it worked out okay, but doing TS (particularly the DDP), it gets very expensive and not worth it for the small amounts we eat. A lot of food would go to waste.

One thing to keep in mind with the Fantasmic Package is it is a "package dinner" where you get an appetizer, entree soft drink and dessert per person for one set price. That's your only option if you want the Fantasmic package, you can't just order ala carte from the menu.

Thats good to know. I think we can splurge for one meal. Will they package the dessert "to go"? Just in case?
