Why can't Disney be more truthful with their dining prices?
I know it'll be a while before we go back but I'm trying to do some estimates for our dining next year. I tried the Disney website and it's really a joke. Every character meal I've looked at has the price range of $36 to $59.99 - including CRT . And I know for a fact that CRT is more than 59.99 each because I just looked at my spreadsheet from LAST year - for 3 of us I paid $200.88 which works out to $66.96. Then throw in the fact that Allears has current menus for a lot of the restaurants and again looking at CRT - their price range is $52 to $71 dollars. Quite different if I do say so myself. I don't mind the low end of the range being high but I do mind when the high end of the range is listed too low. What do you guys think though? Would you rather the what I think is misleading prices from the Disney website or more realistic prices from places like Allears to plan with?
I think quite a few things on their site are outdated. I especially hate when room photos are old. It seems like they should be excited to show the new and improved rooms, but a lot of times the information is stale.
I think some of it is children's vs. adult prices. It would be much clearer if they just stated Children' price is $x, Adult price is $y, holiday surcharge of $z applies on the following dates.

I'll agree 100% with this. We just changed from POFQ to CBR in order to take advantage of FD and I was frantically trying to get as much info as possible to get us excited about the change. When I called WDW resort reservations to ask if all their non-Pirate themed rooms were "Nemo" themed, they didn't know. I told them I was looking at their site and the CM told me that they didn't know if that was accurate. What? I even asked where I could go to find out and they suggested that I Google it!!
Disney has beautiful rooms and resorts. They have wonderful meals and events. They have enough money to hire someone to keep their website updated. It would be great marketing if they would keep their sites updated so people could plan (as in the case of the OP) and have realistic expectations of what they're walking into.
I agree.... I'd prefer to have the updated accurate info to plan with. I never thought for a second that I'd be dealing with out of date information.... I just assumed it fluctuated depending on the season.
Thanks for highlighting this issue.
I think some of it is children's vs. adult prices.
If that were the case, I could kind of understand but all the prices have asteriks after them and when you scroll down to find what the asterik means, it says based on adult prices, not children's prices.
It is maddening however I tend to always budget according to the highest prices so that I know I am covered and then whatever I have left over can go towards souvenirs or bring it back home with me to start saving for the next trip.
You know... I rarely go to the Disney website for information. I come here first or Allears. Then I check some of the other websites. The only time I use the Disney site is thier reservation line to see what different options will cost. then I call to make the reservation. I think the fluctuation in meal pricing is for when they decide to charge more for holiday times.
I have aleay thought the Disney site was difficult to navigate and not even 1/2 as informative at Passporter or Allears.

I suspect they may not have in-house people handling the website ... which would mean that the people doing it, aren't going to be excited to share Disney Magic, so much.

I don't think I've ever planned anything WDW related based on that site, if I have a question I come here, if there isn't (or I can't find) a post related to it, I post one. I check rumors and news on google, but everything planning wise is right here... or facebook
I generally use All Ears for menu pricing, but occasionally I'll check out the PDFs of the menus that WDW has on their website. I never thought that they might be outdated.
