I am not a fan of Tony's. I don't care for the food. I would also choose Kona. I think the food there is much better and if MK has EMH, a little break from the park might be good
The bad reviews of Tony's might possibly be coming from me. I just don't love it--I don't think I even like it. Kona's has been okay for lunch and dinner--not as good as breakfast. Not to throw a monkey wrench in your plans but what about walking over to the Contemporary for a quick meal at The Wave?
If you're doing lunch at Chefs de France, you're going to be full come dinner time. Might as well stay in the park and got with Tony's. The food at Kona is so much better, but you won't be able to do it justice. That's our biggest reason against the Deluxe Plan - too much food, too much time in the restaurants
It's been years since I ate at Tony's but I eat at Kona most trips and I have not seen any decline in service or quality. Your experience may vary, of course. With EMH, I would be even more tempted to hop the monorail over to the Poly for a nice meal. But go with your feelings because you know your party the best.
I hear what you're saying. That's the crux of my indecision. Kona does sound so yummy that to me it would be worth leaving the park. But I'm a people pleaser and I don't want to rain on anyone elses' parade.
I am so picky but dislike Tony's & love Kona! It's not far from MK either!
I know Kona's not far but I've read that a meal there can take quite a bit of time. It's my nephew's first trip so I'm very anxious about not spending too much time away from the parks. But then again, he has to eat....
We eat at Kona and Tony's each trip we take. We have never had any problems at either and pick these two restaurants because they each offer something that we really enjoy.

I'm glad to hear from Tony's fans. The menu at Kona looks so great and the reviews are generally so much better that I thought Kona was an obvious choice, but now I'm leaning towards Tony's. I always liked Tony's for convenience, but now it's looking like the food will be just fine too. And I really LOVED Lady and the Tramp when I was a little girl.

Thank you so much for your input. My heart does say Kona - I've always wanted to eat there but we never have. We will have taken an afternoon break from the park, so I'm not sure we'll need one in the evening. The Wave sounds interesting and my nephew might enjoy seeing another resort up close (we're eating at AKL, Poly, FW and BW). However, my head keeps saying Tony's......I've got to figure this out soon!
I agree, we shouldn't be very hungry, but we'll still need a meal. My husband is a type 1 diabetic, so he must eat. Lunch is at noon and our dinner will be around 8:30. We don't order the dinner type entrees when we eat lunch at Chefs, typically sandwiches or salads. We won't be hungry enough for a full, heavy meal, but I think my husband and nephew will have worked up a little bit of an appetite by then so I'd like the food to be decent......
While i've never been to Kona i went to Tony's for the first time in June with my 17 year old sister. We both really enjoyed it. My sister really liked her meal and commented it was really good! I got the chicken parmesan and thought it was really good. My sister really liked the spaghetti and meatballsIt's way too big of a portion though. I'm not a huge eater so I had a lot leftover. The only thing we both learned we didn't like was the pomegranate lemonade. but that's available at every restaurant. It tastes like cough medicine to me.
We have eaten at both and really enjoyed Tony's. It is your traditional Italian and while it is fast and hot, it is pretty good too. I would not hesitate to eat there again. Kona is good, but I would probably not leave the park if I had just spent a lunch reservation at a sit down either. It seems like a lot of time inside eating, and Tony's would be much quicker!
We've had excellent meals at both restaurants and we return to them on each trip. However, you might feel "parked out" by the time dinner comes around, and a nice, quiet monorail ride over to the beautiful Polynesian resort might offer a nice break. Sometimes it's nice to just change the pace a little. Kona is not quiet, but it still feels like you're getting away from it all.

Thanks for the tip on the pomegranate lemonade. I probably would have tried it since I was delighted with the mixed berry lemonade at Carthay Circle in DCA. Now I think I'll pass. No cough medicine for me !

Yes, we do tend to spend a few hours with inside seating, but we don't care for most of the QS offerings. Our nephew would probably disagree. He's a tiny little guy but I've seen him eat one of those horrible turkey legs at DL all by himself.

I did think that a break from the park might be nice, but since we're taking an afternoon break it might not be as important as I once thought. I do wish I was more decisive. I need to make up my mind before my options disappear!
