Where can I get "healthy" foods at counter service places?
I debated putting this on either Disney for Kids or on this board. My 2 1/2 year old doesn't really eat the normal "kid" food. She's more interested in fruit and yogurt and oatmeal, etc. I don't say this to be braggish, it's a bit of a pain in the butt to find this stuff when we go out to eat.
Where can I get a la carte healthy snacky foods for lunch and dinner? I've made a few reservations for buffets because I know I can find things that she'll eat from there, plus she's still free. However, we can't eat at a buffet everyday - no matter how much my husband may be up for that challenge.
You can go to this website link for allears.net and review all the menus to see which counter service locations have some healthy selections that you DS may enjoy.. Walt Disney World Dining Menus Information
I know that all the parks have snack counters that serve single servings of fruit like apples, oranges, and fresh cut fruit cups. They are very refreshing on a hot day. I hope this helps..
Sunshine Seasons at Epcot has many healthy and different options for breakfast and lunch that will probably work. I know they have oatmeal for breakfast and they have yogurt available at lunch.
Most of the deluxe resorts' counter service have "healthy" choices. I don't know about other resorts, as I've never visited their CS.
I think it's perfectly fine to brag that your DD doesn't eat the "normal" kid foods. Mine don't either. They heartily dislike fried anything, hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. And they're 29,19, and 14. They hated it when WDW stopped the kids' meals that mirrored the adult meals (just had smaller servings).
Disney has really made a push to offer healthy options at all their restaurants, and even some of the snack carts.
I think you'll find it fairly easy to find grapes and carrots and applesauce, etc. There are also lots of grab-n-go types of offerings of fruit salad (melon, especially)
Thanks for the help! I think we just really need to plan out meals this time instead of winging it like last time. That's how we ended up eating a nasty pizza from the 24 hr cafeteria at the Dolphin one night after Cora went to bed.
Our 2 good finds by winging it were the breakfast buffet at Y&B and Kouzzina at Boardwalk. Scott got some ridiculous french toast with figs and baklava.
In full disclosure, there was one evening that I ate a funnel cake with a brick of ice cream for dinner. Not my finest moment.

One of my favorite snacks at WDW are the bowls of red grapes you can get at most of the grab & go displays at a resort food court. They're served cold and are very refreshing on a hot day. They are pricey, I want to say they're around $4.00.
My girls are the same way, they do not eat the kids meal crap. We usually ordered an adult meal for them to share. In MK, Cosmic Rays has rotisserie chicken that is good. In Epcot your best bets are either sunshine seasons or world showcase, my girls actually love the chicken swarma in Morocco. AK, flametree BBQ is good and my we like Tusker House(my youngest says they have the best couscous). HS is not our favorite but we usually get a sandwich from Starring Rolls, they are big enough for at least 2 ppl. My oldest love ceasar salads so anywhere we can find these she is good. We love going on the Disney Cruise partly for the food benefits. My youngest(10) is already a food snob, not only does she love steak, it has to be a filet lol. Needless to say we do not eat filet very often, so the fact that they can order anything they want on the cruise makes them very happy. My youngest usually ends up with 2 helpings of creme brulee and my oldest loves shrimp.
EasyWDW.com is currently doing thorough posts on every counter service restaurant, snack stand, snack cart, you-name-it in the parks, including pictures of the menus. Check it out to find out what's available.
We were able to get a Kids Power pack at Pizza Planet in April. It was a kids meal with string cheese, yogurt, goldfish and milk. DD is 2 and she loved this! I know other places offer this too but not sure which ones!

I know at BC for breakfast you could get a yogurt parfait. It's a short walk from The Boardwalk.
At MK we like eating at Cosmic Rays and Columbia Harbour House. Both have healthy options.
At DHS as mentioned Starring Rolls is good.
At Epcot, so many choices!
At AKL we love Flame Tree and Y&Y cs.
You can get menus on all ears.net
All of the restaurants I've been in at the resorts (value, mod and deluxe) sell fresh fruit, yogurt, salads, sliced apples, mini carrots, and grapes.
At the Studios, the Power Pack is also available at Backlot Express, which offers a grilled veggie sandwich for non-meateating grownups. You can find many healthy choices on the menus as Disney has made a concerted effort to improve the health quotient of their meals. Of course, some people now complain that their kids should be able to eat fries and soda on vacation! So you can choose to have those on kids meals (CS at least) in place of the now generally offered grapes, carrots, applesauce or yogurt. Many TS places offer better kid's choices like grilled or roasted chicken or fish, veggies, and fruit desserts. Check out the menus at AllEarsNet.com but also ask about other options at TS places especially (plain pasta, for example).

Most of the parks offer a wonderful fresh fruit/veggie location with lovely produce available a very reasonable price.
Try Harambe Fruit Market in the AK, just across from Tusker House. Anaheim Produce in DHS offers great fresh options, and do try the fresh pineapple spears at Aloha Aisle and the fresh fruit or smoothies at Auntie Gravity's in the MK. I guess the best fresh foods we have found at Epcot are at Sunshine Seasons.
