San Angel Inn (Mexico) [need opinions and reviews] About This Page:

I need some advice. I have planned San Angel Inn for a dinner reservation. It has always looked so nice and I've always wanted to eat here but I am worried now that we shouldn't. It is an extra meal so I don't have a dining credit to use so it would be out of pocket. I have read hundreds of reviews at Trip Advisor and Yelp and it seems that people either love it or hate it but everyone thinks its expensive. I have 4 people, Me, Husband, Teenage Son (who eats a lot) and a 5 year old. Since it will probably be $150 or more is it worth it?

Personally, we fall into the not so keen category. We've eaten there a couple of times now and just haven't been wowed by it.

We've had lunch there twice with delicious results.

Lunch prices are quite reasonable.

While I do think the atmosphere is great, I unforunately agree with some of the others that it's not worth it. We were really big fans a few years back before they changed the menu, but we just don't care for the current menu. I've heard better things about La Hacienda de San Angel (the one that sits on the lagoon outside), but it is also quite expensive.

We had lunch there last November and had a good time. I'm not a fan of Mexican, but my DD6 has always asked about eating there so I surprised him as his birthday lunch. Even with me not caring for that type of food, I had the steak tacos and they were quite good. I ate them all! Kids all got quesadillas, and I don't recall what my parents got. My dad cleaned his plate though I know that! The prices for lunch were about as much as you'd pay anywhere for lunch table service. And the service was good too, very friendly.

I also ordered the chocolate birthday cake from the podium, which I haven't done in a long time. A while ago, it was a small little cake, nothing to it, and I was fully prepared for that. When it came time for dessert, they brought out at least an 8" (maybe even 10", it was large!) chocolate cake, completely topped out with fresh berries and decorative frosting! I was shocked. It was delicious too! Maybe this has skewered my opinion, but I rather enjoyed our lunch there. We ate the cake for breakfast the following 2 days.

We ate there, but it was several years ago. Ex-hubby and daughter ate there and seemed to really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I had a migraine hit and though the food looked excellent, I couldn't eat it.

The atmosphere at San Angel Inn is great, but I have to say that I enjoy the food at La Hacienda across the way much more!

If this isn't your first or even second time to WDW - I say what the heck, go for it. reviews are just one person's opinion. What I find fun/yummy/positive - I know a heck of a lot of people (here there and everywhere) don't... and vice versa. So do it, if it's lousy at least you tried it. And if it's good then YAY!

I haven't been since the menu change, but my favorite is still there. I like the Veracruzana fish entree.

We've always felt connected to the place because it was our first ADR on our first family trip. The atmosphere is quite lovely, but that might be enough to make paying OOP worth it.

I tend to agree with the previous poster when it comes to reviews. I take them into consideration, but if I really want to go experience a place, I go anyway to find out for myself.
