special diets

Although we've been to WDW alot this is the first time we will be there with my daughter on an extremely stict medical diet. We have to weigh and calculate everything she is allowed and I was wondering how this will all go at WDW. I have heard they are good about all this but am wondering if it will be a problem to have them scramble some eggs that I bring from our room? We are staying at the BWV but still want to be able to eat out sometimes. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: special diets

Susan,

On my last visit in September, I joined a family at the Biergarten's restaurant (it's buffet style)in Epcot and was seated with a family who have a daughter with allergies to all kinds of things. They had advised the restaurant ahead of time and the chef came out and spoke with them and made up her plate (and seconds too!) so that she could enjoy the dinner too. They even shipped in her favorite pineapple juice (she can only drink pineapple juice and water) which I thought was "going that extra mile for their guests".

I believe you if make some PS ahead of time and let them know of your challenges and remind them when you check in, you will get the same kind of special treatment to make sure your daughter's meal is also enjoyable.

Re: special diets

Hi Susan,
Just make sure you make PSs for all your restaurants and make sure you put a note of your limitations. Usually what they tell you to do is call the restaurant 24hr in advance to make arrangements. Some if not most of the times, the chefs will come out (or to the phone) and talk to you prior to your dining. And they will tell you if they can't do certain stuff. But make sure you put in that note, OK?
You'll have fun... )

Re: special diets

I am an EXTREMELY picky vegetarian, and I have found the restaurants in WDW to be the most-accomodating places around. Definitely call and make PS & let them know at that time, that you have restrictions/such. Also, at least 24 hours before dining there, I would recommend calling there again -- to go over any specifics with the individual restaurant.
I know veggie dining is much dft. than your circumstances, but I am sure they will do whatever they can to help you out. With just my situation, I have met with the chefs personally, who have discussed options with me that aren't even on the menu. That's service!
Good luck!
