Sci-Fi restaurant

What is your opinion of the Sci-Fi Drive In restaurant at Disney Studios? In reading books and other websites I have seen mixed reviews. Some people seem to really like it, while others seem to think it is rather mediocre. Is it mostly hype based on the dining experience or is the food really good anyways? I would be interested in any opinions.

Re: Sci-Fi restaurant

You know, I enjoyed the meal. The kids loved sitting in the cars and watching the movie clips...very corny and entertaining. The whole atmosphere was just so neat. If I remember right, I got a pasta dish that was much to large for lunch and the rest of the family had burgers. My only complaint was that the cars were too dark....I could barely see my food. They need to add small lights right above the table surface. We entered the restaurant without PSs right before a huge thunderstorm hit....we planned it that way to be out of the rain...and were seated very quickly. -HiddenMickey

Re: Sci-Fi restaurant

We enjoyed it. I think DH had a steak sandwich, I had chili & a salad, and DS had a burger; DS & I had a sundae for dessert. All of our food was good. My chili was delicious and so was my salad. I agree it was pretty dark. DH & I reminisced about going to the drive-in as children and just had a really good time. mary

Re: Sci-Fi restaurant

Sci-Fi Drive-In is fun and definetly unique! It's great fun if you're a fan of the old "Monster from the Black Lagoon" sort of stuff. They show short clips of all sorts of old movies like that, even some silly Disney cartoon spoof kind of stuff. My husband loves it. The kids think it's great to eat in a car in the dark and watch movies with the stars overhead. I don't recall the food being extra extra great, but I don't recall it being bad either, we keep going back so that tells you something (what, I'm not sure! LOL). They used to serve a basket of popcorn while you waited for your meal which was fun, but we would eat too much popcorn and not be hungry enough to finish our meal! This is a fun place! At least ask if you can peek inside if you're not sure.

DH and I loved it. We had great burgers and milkshakes for dinner one evening. And it was really fun watching the old clips.

Re: Sci-Fi restaurant

Just a note on this:
My experience was mixed. I liked the concept and the food, but I think it would have been more fun if it was more crowded. Does that make sense? The place was empty when I went there, and I think the noise of people and the laughter at the clips would have improved the atmosphere. Also, ordering appetizers and sharing meals - way to go here!
