Character Meal - To Do or Not To Do Help! We are debating whether or not to do a character meal with our 3 boys. My 12 year old thinks he's too cool and my 4 year old sometimes get scared with people in costumes. My 8 year old says he doesn't care either way. I think that I am the only one that really wants to experience one of these fun meals. What should we do? Thanks.

Re: Character Meal - To Do or Not To Do I would say Go For It! The 12 yr old will thnk he's too cool until he gets there. The 3 yr old will warm up really quickly and the 8 yr old will have a ball! Enjoy!

Re: Character Meal - To Do or Not To Do I would do at least one. My 9 year old son prefers the character meals. I know this because on our last trip I had a PS for a non-character meal planned and we were a little tired so I asked him whether he wanted to go to the Disney restaurant or just grab something from somewhere near our hotel. His first question was whether it was a character meal. When I said no he said he would rather just grab something close by. They try to act like it does not matter but really deep down they like it too. They may not be into the autographs, but most kids love to get their pictures taken with the characters. I would go for something like chef mickey's.

Re: Character Meal - To Do or Not To Do I've never traveled with kids before (but will soon) and we always do at least one character meal. Even if it's just because you want to, plan it.

Re: Character Meal - To Do or Not To Do If YOU want to do it, DO IT! Character meals are just as important for adults as for kids!

Re: Character Meal - To Do or Not To Do Last summer my DS was very scared of the characters. He had just turned 4 and I know he seems old to be so frightened but he just could't help it. We made a reservation for a character breakfast during the week but he still couldn't do it. My DD and Dh went to the breakfast and my DS and I played in Animal Kingdom. On the LAST day he took pics with Mickey, Goofy, Max, Jazmin and Genie. Make your ressies late in the week to help your little one get warmed up. The characters are wonderful when they see little ones are scared they will keep their distance and do their best to lessen the fear. Joy

Re: Character Meal - To Do or Not To Do I say definitely GO FOR IT! My 2yo was scared at the first character meal last year, but she warmed up by the second. We just told the characters that she was scared and they just waved to her from across the table. They are sooo much fun and my parents just love them too. You are never too old or too cool. I would suggest Chef Mickey's or Donald's Breakfastsauros. I bet the 12yo will have a great time after all. You'll have to let us know! SleepingB
