? about dining

When you eat somewhere like O'hanas where you get served family style...are you seated at the table with just your family, or are you seated at tables with other people you don't know? Thanks!

Re: ? about dining

At the Teppanyaki Dining Room, we ate with people we didn't know. This is a restaurant where the food is prepared right at your table. It was kind of fun to meet other people there.

My wife and I ate at O'Hana's last time we were there and it was just a table for two. Honestly I can't say we'd eat there again. WAY too many screaming kids running around and we found the food to be OK at best.

When we ate at Wispering Canyons at the Wilderness Lodge only our family at at the table. All of the tables were like that as well. Family style just refers to the way that the food is served.

Re: ? about dining

Hi abcsoup: Family style means you get a Common wok of food and all get to scoop their own portions from it. The O'Hana breakfast is very active and for the person who said it was full of screaming kids, your right, but this is WDW and it is for kids!!!!! of all ages. If you are looking for a quiet meal this is not the place, but then again neither are most of the other Dinning options. Good luck and remember the magic. Jerry

Re: ? about dining

At 'Ohana's, we were seated at a table for two and I don't think they combine parties. However, Biergarten does and we were unfortunate enough to find ourselves seated with some very rowdy young folks who used a lot more profanity than I am comfortable with so it made for a fairly unpleasant mealtime. At Biergarten, the tables are for 8 so if you have less than that number in your party, you can be pretty sure you'll find yourself seated with strangers.

I believe that at the Sci-Fi Drive-In Theater restaurant, sometimes you end up with what they call "hitchhikers" in your "car" if there is only a couple of you. Since the seats all face forwards towards the screen, this doesn't seem to pose much of a problem.

Re: ? about dining

You always sit at your own table at Ohana's. The appetizers are served on a lazy susan in the center of the table for your family to share. Servers bring the meats on long skewers and ask you how many pieces you want and they dish it directly onto your plate. If you want more of anything they will bring it for you. We love this restaurant and always eat there at least once while in WDW. Enjoy!

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">I'm sorry I have to disagree with you about the screaming kids thing. Yes, it is WDW and full of kids, but it doesn't mean that they have to be out of control the whole time they are in the restaurant. We ate in plenty of places at WDW that had lots of kids, but we were still able to enjoy our meal.

Re: ? about dining

Joy, I have to agree with you about Biergarten. DH and I were there years ago and sat with some young 20somethings that were drunk and using profanity. Now, mind you, we weren't much older than them but felt like it in years!! Because of this experience, we will NEVER go back there! Ruined a great place that my DH loves the food. Oh, well, on to other restaurants!
