Question AP Dining Discounts

Is there a list posted anywhere or does anyone have a list of restaurants that give discounts to AP holders? We're trying to factor that into our ticket decision.

Cheers
Craig

I can also thoroughly recommend the Disney Dining Experience card - it's saved us a lot of money over the years.

If you plan to purchase $325 dollars worth of table service meals, you've 'earned back' the membership fee. Everything after that is a true discount.

With the Yak & Yeti and some of the other non-Disney-owned restaurants, your AP will get you a 10% discount off of your entrees.

We're first time AP holders this year and the DDE card was the major factor in our decision. Our family of 5 saved a huge amount at 3 character meals, Jiko, and other occasions. If you don't get the DDE card and only have an AP you save 10% at many but not all restaurants throughout the World. Most of these AP discounts are M-F, up to 4 people, and often just for lunch. DDE covers many more locations, up to 10 people on card holders bill, and usualy valid at B,L,& D.

I'm confused where the $325 fgure comes from. Can you explain it to the WDW Newbie? Thanks

It comes from Math. The DDE card costs $65 and gives you a discount of 20%. So once you've spend $325 you have covered the cost of the card with your savings and anything after that is your true savings. (325 x 20% = 65) Hope this helps!

Cool thanks. This brings up another, much more twisted, question. We will be a party of 16 (12 adults & 4 kids) for a few TS meals. DDE only provides the discount for 10. Can I get seperate checks for the grown up adults and the young adults and kids?

Cheers
Craig

I know you can get a secondary card on your DDE membership for an additional $25. What I'm not sure about is whether that would allow you to have 20 people in your party. You might have to contact the DDE office (407-566-5858) to ask them the policy.

Good luck!

Here's a printable file for the wdw discounts:
http://allearsnet.com/pl/disc_dining.pdf

I used this as a basis and added a category for us, CM. My Dfamily thought I was crazy, but it's good to have a handy chart to compare!

Wow! I'm not really sure how I should take this. I guess maybe I should give the benefit of the doubt and not assume this was said in a rude, snarky way. Wow! I am so taken aback I should probably just walk away. But, of course, I can't just simply do that.

I am just so incredibly shocked. It was a question. It really didn't deserve an answer like

Colleen - I am so sorry - I didn't mean it to be snarky. I was replying quickly from work and it came across wrong. I was just trying to be helpful and explain the calculation and wasn't trying to imply anything. I hope you'll forgive me and continue to ask questions.

Yipes -- knowing Lesley as well as I do, I can assure you that she didn't mean it in the way you read it. She was just saying that it doesn't come from a Disney source, but rather from some kind soul who figured it out a while back and let us in on that info.

Please, please don't let the way words appear on a screen make you think that Lesley is not the most kind, warm and friendly person. She is -- she's wonderful.

Internet boards have an inherent problem in that we can't see each other's faces and hear each other's voices and are, therefore, unable to get valuable clues as to the tone and intent of what people are really saying. Smilies go a long way in helping us to be understood in the manner in which we intend, but it often happens that something quite innocuous comes across as snarky.

I hope you will continue to ask questions and know that the helpful, friendly and well-meaning members of this board (of which, Lesley is a stellar example) will be more than happy to give you advice and information to anything you ask.

I can thoroughly agree with Eileen on this - I know Lesley very well and I know that's not at all how she meant it to come across. I hope you will continue to ask questions and be a member of our boards here.
