| This is a great link! Kudos to whomever feels that his health is good enough that he can drop his regular diet for a vacation one, but not all of us are so "disciplined" or have other special needs and considerations. Please try to keep in mind that what works for you might not work for others. Thanks!

| I'd like to remind everyone taking part in this thread that the intial post was about something a member had come across and felt might be helpful to others. The guides of this forum have edited and deleted some of the posts because they clearly violated board guidelines. If you do not find something to which another member links helpful, it would be best to "move along" and ignore the thread. If you found it helpful, it would be kind to thank the OP for their link. It is appropriate to comment on your reactions to articles such as this -- within the PassPorter guidelines, of course. If you find you have an objection to a post another member has made, we ask that you please report the post using the little "warning sign" icon that appears on each post. That way, the guides can take care of any issues as appropriate. Everyone needs to read the guidelines for PassPorter on a frequent basis. (You can click the link I provided in the underlined text to review the guidelines.) The guides review them, the members do, and it is especially important that new members get a feel for what is acceptable and not acceptable on the boards. PassPorter has a great reputation for a friendly, helpful, respectful atmosphere. We all can take pride in that and make sure we continue with that ideal as we post and comment. Thanks! Eileen

| Thanks PT (and Eileen). I don't need to eat healthy at Disney but I have noticed that (because we come from the UK and go for a couple of weeks at a time) I begin to crave something lighter after a while. The details in that article look really useful.

| Interesting article.... I like that Disney World is now offering fresh fruit in the Parks. I like to get my banana fix. I do enjoy treating myself to my Disney Park favorites and I am glad that I do NOT like the Turkey legs ( 1400 calories------YIKES!! ) I mean... how many dole whips would that equal

| I have to say that I adore the fresh fruit -- especially the oranges -- at the snack carts. An orange is PERFECT when I come off of Soarin' and am literally desperate for one! But... I also love my Mickey Bars and Dole Whips and even, gasp, the turkey legs on occasion. I'm glad that I, as the vacationer, am given the option for one or the other ... or both! Now, if I still had little ones, I'd be bummed that some of the greasier, more kid-friendly things have been cut... It makes it hard for people whose kids just won't eat a grilled chicken breast... I do, generally, like the new food offerings. ![]() Eileen PS - does anyone remember the days when the food was really b-a-a-a-d at Disney. I think alot of it was cooked at a central location and "shipped" out to the various venues. I remember there really wasn't much more than hamburgers and hot dogs available. If I'm remembering correctly, Michael Eisner did a lot to bring in new chefs, new choices and -- as each park began -- ensured that there would be new restaurants, new food, and new chefs. It really seemed to revolutionize the way guests felt about Disney's food and restuarants.

| Thanks for the link! Like so many others, I like to splurge at Disney (I just the Dole Whip and anything sweet) but after a heavy meal I'm looking for something lighter later in the day...especially when you are there in the heat of the summer. I remember it seemed like the only "fruit" you could get in the parks were caramel covered apples and chocolate covered strawberries! It's nice that they are adding in new options for people who want to take part.

| Well said Eileen!! I try my best at home to eat healthy and make healthy meals for my family. We do splurge once in a while, and that's what vacation is about too. But I do not like to eat tons of fried foods....so I think Disney has done an excellent job of adding healthy options for guests and options other than burgers and fries, even if they're not necessarily low fat low calorie. With all the walking we do in WDW, it helps to offset the extra calories anyway.
