We used the Basic Dining plan and LOVED it! We could have done without the desserts on the CS meals though. We were way to full to even think of eating them!

In March my sister & I went for 3 days and we had the deluxe dining plan. For us, it was perfect, we were able to enjoy full meals each time and never worried about the cost. Since we're use to putting our families before us in everyday life, it was a nice way to spoil ourselves.

We used the Deluxe Dining plan 2 weeks ago. We do not use it for 3 meals a day. We only go to the signature restaurants for dinner, Jiko's and California Grill twice, Yachtmans Steakhouse, Citricos, Flying Fish. For our lunches we went to Prime Time, Yak and Yeti, Saana and Coral Reef. The other days for lunch we used our snacks at the Food and Wine Festival. we stayed at AKL club level. Had breakfast there. We love these restaurants and do not feel like we were stuffed. We can do this because we are 3 adults that like nice restaurants. If I was a kid again I don't know if I would like eating at these places all week.

With Stefanie having to be counted as an adult the plan is just not cost-effective for us. We also simply can't eat that much food.

We were there in Sept and upgraded to the DDP, simply because we were planning on using 2 TTC for the HDDR, Cinderella's castle, and Flying Fish, as well as Pizza room service. My husband likes a full breakfast every day, we kind of snacked through our day and then had a nice dinner at night. Three of our 8 days were MK days, and we ate at the Wave and Whispering Canyon Cafe for breakfast on those days. So if we had been on the regular dining plan we would not have been able to have breakfast and dinner daily, just a CS breakfast. The pizza delivery is 2 TS credits as well. So, it worked well for us. Also, another note, when on the deluxe plan, your mugs are free, as well as we rec'd free bottled water to take with us after breakfast to the parks. I know it doesn't work for everyone, but it was lovely for us. We are going again in Dec, and have upgraded for then as well. We will be going to the CP in Epcot (2 TS credits), Jiko, and and several character meals, so we can once again enjoy a hearty breakfast and a sit down relaxing dinner.

LOVE IT!! We tried the DDP out two weeks ago on our weekend gateway trip. Since it was free it was one of the incentives for us to book the trip and to book a moderate resort rather than a value. I kept track of all the food & beverages we "purchased" and how much it would have cost. 2 adults, 2 Teenagers, 5 days, 4 nights - $800 in free food!!! The dinning plan would have cost us $640. I'm sold on it. My mother loved that our food was already paid, much like the inclusive resorts she goes to in Mexico. We used most of our snack credits at the Food & Wine Festival.

Why we liked QS Dining Plan

Myself, Wife and 4 year old son used QS Plan in late Jan. '09 and loved it. We have done the Table Service Plan in the past. We liked not being tied to a schedule as the Table Service Reservations require. Also, the time it takes to do Table Service Meals can be longer than we like sometimes. We really researched the QS Restaurants and feel we really got the bang for the buck at Wolfgang Puck Express, Earl of Sandwich, Cookes of Dublin to name a few. Food was great in our opinion.

We have used the DDP in 2007 (Premium), 2008 (basic), & 2009 (basic). We found that having the TS all the time with the premium was too much. We became DVC members in 2008 and still did the dining plan...(I don't want to cook on vacation) and we really liked it I save all of the receipts and write the cost on them to see if it was worth it (I'm a CPA and I just have to!). It has been worth it all of the times, even on the premium plan since we did a lot of character meals that stay and tours, etc. We will be doing the Basic DDP for our trip in June 2010!

Why not Platnum??
Just kidding...but I can dream.
We have been on the basic DP 3 times (including 2009) and love it! Of course we loved it more when apps and tips were included, but it was perfect for 2 adults and 1 child.
Now that our child is 10, I will have to crunch the numbers before our next trip.
