| DDP Desert Decision We are going to WDW in Octber this year and are going to use the DDP which you get a desert with your meal. Well my husband Terry doesn't eat deserts and I don't need the extra calories by taking his desert back to the BCV to save for a later time. So I was wondering if anyone has encountered the same problem and if you can switch an appetizer (like salad) in place of the desert. I figured someone at PP would know before I need to call and find out. Thanks in advance!! Catherine

| Unfortunately they won't let you substitute an appetizer instead of a dessert. It is possible at some places to get fruit for dessert. Especially at the CS places-I've had luck getting things that aren't so "dessert-y", like fruit or yogurt. I love desserts but can't afford (diet-wise) to have as many as we get on the ddp so what DH and I sometimes do is get one fruit and one dessert and then split.

| No, you won't be able to substitute an appetizer or salad. He'll just have to forgo that portion of the meal if they can't offer fruit at the end of the meal. Have you thought about not doing the DDP? You may be better off not doing it if you are having to forgo part of each TS meal.

| They will not substitute an appetizer for a dessert at a table service restaurant, but I have been able to get a child's fruit cup or cup of grapes instead of the dessert option.

| I would suggest asking for fresh fruit. Most desserts are in the $3 to $5 range (some more), so you might want to calculate that when deciding if the dining plan is right for you. Good luck! Eileen

| I was allowed at Rosie's All American Cafe in DHS to substitute a salad for my dessert. I wasn't going to get any dessert because nothing sounded good to me and the CM asked if I would like a salad instead.

| At some restaurants we were able to get the cheese platter/plate that was only on the appetizer menu for dessert. But I think that is only because many have a cheese plate on the desser menu. I personally would love to see the appetizer/dessert as interchangeable. We use the platinum plan so we've had both but sometimes there are so many great appetizers that I'd rather try two of those and skip dessert!
