Just back - Disney & offsite dining reviews

We just got back this afternoon after a week in the Orlando/Celebration area. Here's a brief overview of where we ate & what we thought:
MONDAY - Jungle Jim's in the Crossroads shopping center - Food was good, but the restaurant kind of had a funky smell. It reminded me of the way the bathroom always smelled at our local Perkin's. Maybe it was just because it was raining that day. The service was a little slow, too. I had the Monte Cristo and my son the Ole' Standard burger. Cheese bricks for an appetizer (free with coupon from website). Our waiter said they were out of souvenir cups for kids, but I saw a kid drinking out of one as we left. Probably will not return there.
Ice cream at Herman's in Celebration. The ice cream was good but the girl working behind the counter kind of irritated me.
TUESDAY - Wolfgang Puck's Express in Downtown Disney. Food was great. I had the rosemary rotisserie chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. My son had the kids' mac and cheese. My only complaint is that the potatoes could stand a bit more garlic, but then I'm a garlic nut. Would return to try other items.
Ghirardelli's for a snack. I had the Very Berry Sundae and my son had the s'mores kids' sundae. Wonderful!!!
Celebration Town Tavern - Good food and atmosphere. I had the meatloaf stacker & my son had the kids' shrimp plate. Our friends shared the prime rib and a bowl of clam chowder which all looked wonderful. A definite thumbs up.
WEDNESDAY - Pecos Bill's for lunch. I had the hot dog and fries combo & my son had the kids' hot dog meal. I loaded mine down with cheese and other fixin's. Good quick meal, but nothing special. Would return if it was convenient.
Columbia Harbor House for dinner. This was a spur of the moment choice because our friend we were with were starving. I was pleasantly surprised, though. I had chicken & fish & my son had the mac & cheese. Both were good. My friend had the tuna sandwich which was great. Would go back again.
THURSDAY - Breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Great food and my son loved the character interaction. Favorite buffet item was the hashbrown casserole type dish! Would probably go again after trying other character meals.
Dinner at Kobe Japanese Steak House on 192. Very good food and excellent presentation. My son loved the show! I had chicken and steak. Both were great. My friend had a beautiful plate of sushi that she said was wonderful. Would go there again.
FRIDAY - Lunch at Upper Crust in Celebration. Wonderful pizza that I am currently craving right now!

Well, that's about it for the Orlando area. Overall I was very pleased with our dining experiences. Hope some of you find this useful!

Thanks for sharing this with us- I've been to Jungle Jim's twice and even though it was several years ago, both visits were on the mediocre side.

Sounds like you had some good eating!

Thanks for the dining reviews--I love reading what people thought (and it always makes me hungry!).

I really like Wolfgang Puck Express, too. I'll have to keep in mind that Upper Crust in Celebration--I'd never heard of it before!

Re: Just back - Disney & offsite dining reviews

How did the price of the Kobe Japanese place compare to Teppanyakis?? Was it significantly cheaper to make a trip outside the "world" worthwhile?
