Luau or other special experience I am taking someone to Disney for the first time, and was wondering what people had thought of the Luau at the Polynesian, and about how much it was for two people. We want to have one really over the top nice dinner that is fun and memorable. Anybody have any other suggestions? BTW, I don't like seafood and he'll eat anything! THANKS!

Re: Luau or other special experience I thought the Luau was OK, It's something I always wanted to try and I'm glad I did but once was enough. I found it to be a bit long and a little if I dare say boring. The day I went it was also in the high 90's. The cost is $49.01 per person. Don't get me wrong it was a nice experience. On the same trip I also did the Hoop Dee-Doo, I found it much more entertaining. It was a great show, it still brings a smile to my face. I enjoyed it so much, I'm doing it again this December. The price is the same $49 Hope this is of some help.

Re: Luau or other special experience We did the Luau at the Poly and were both very disappointed with it. The food was mediocre and the first half of the show was boring and not even very Polynesian. The Hoop Dee Doo Review on the other hand was wonderful. The food is just plain old barbecue type fare but it is tasty and the show is wonderful! If you want more of a fine dining experience, there are some other great alternatives: For a very special once in a lifetime kind of meal, you can book the Chef's Table at Victoria & Albert's. You end up sitting in this nook in the kitchen where you can watch the chefs and work and interact with them. You also get to sample every dish that is made in the restaurant that evening. This is a very expensive meal but it is well worth every penny. Dinner at the California Grill at a window table during the Wishes fireworks is an awesome event. Both the food and service here are wonderful and if you linger for dessert, you can stay long enough to also watch the Electrical Water Pageant. You could also try the Fantasmic dinner package at the Hollywood Brown Derby. We found both the service and food to be terrific here and afterwards, you get reserved seating for the Fantasmic! show so you don't have to stand in line forever in order to see it. For a really unique and enjoyable meal, I also recommend Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's a buffet offering some extremely unusual African delicacies mixed with more traditional North American dishes. Before and after you meal you can wander around this amazing resort and check out all the animals on the various savannas. Oh, and I don't eat any type of seafood whatsoever so all these places I mentioned are great for those of us who prefer not to eat seafood. If you want any more information about any of the above restaurants, just private message me and I'll be more than willing to help you out any way that I can. ![]() Joy
