Which restaurant? I'd like to try a new restaurant at Downtown Disney on our next trip. I'm trying to decide betewen Cap'n'Jacks and the Portobello Yacht Club. Any first hand reports from either restaurant to help me make up my mind?

Re: Which restaurant? I have't eaten at either one Cheryl, but the menu from Portobello certainly looks very good, but very expensive. It seems like they have more to choose from too. Good like deciding!!

Re: Which restaurant? Can't help you decide between those two, but if you like seafood then you might want to consider Fulton's ! We ate there last time and they had a great menu with lots of choices. Actually there were a lot of landlubber items too!

Re: Which restaurant? Out of those two, I've only eaten at the Portobello Yacht Club BUT it was wa-a-a-ay back in 1991! LOL It was fantastic back then - I remembered they had roasted garlic cloves that you could use as a spread on their delicious Italian bread - yummy if you like garlic! I remember reading someone here didn't like it for just that reason LOL I'm Italian - I like garlic ROFL Sorry - hopefully someone has been to one of those two in more recent years! LOL

Re: Which restaurant? Cheryl, During my trip in December, I ate lunch at Fulton's and dinner at Portabello Yacht Club. Both were very good meals, but I have to say that Fulton's was better IMHO. The food selection and presentation was just a bit more original and less run-of-the-mill. I also got to sit outside on the deck in the middle of the afternoon which was nice. Just a sidenote for you--if you eat at either restaurant, save your receipt and you can get 10% off of your bill at the other restaurant.

Re: Which restaurant? We ate at Cap'n Jack's last month. It really wasn't too bad! I really liked the New England clam chowder (they also had a Manhattan conch chowder that my FIL said was great.) Looking over my notes from dinner . . . I had the roasted chicken breast with creamed mushroom demi-glace and it was VERY good. DH and his mother had the sirloin with onion ragout and horseradish cream --- they both rated it as "pretty darn tasty" My FIL had the seafood pasta and said it was delicious! The prices on the menu ranged from $4.49 (chowder) to $31.99 (lobster tails) . . . the menu wasn't the most extensive, but it was very good! I would definitely recommend eating at an "off" time or planning on doing a little shopping if it is a busy time. PP says "Short Waits" but, we were there at nearly 7pm on Saturday, March 19 and waited 90 minutes for a table!!! When we left, there were still quite a few people waiting to be seated! (I think maybe they need to look into accepting PS's . . . ) ![]()

Re: Which restaurant? [ QUOTE ] LOL Karen! Wasn't it you that hated the garlic in everything? I remember reading a post somewhere and thought, gee, that's what I loved about it! ROFL [/ QUOTE ] Yes, Allan told me that the roasted garlic that they serve with the bread was a roasted onion and I took a big bite and got a shock. I couldn't taste any of my food after that, everything just tasted overpoweringly of garlic. Not really the restaurant's fault, I should blame Allan really . I actually quite like garlic but that was just too much, I still tease him now about ruining my meal.Karen

Re: Which restaurant? I have eaten at both but 10+ years age. I think that Portabello was much better. Capn Jacks was much more casual.
