Is there any way to make the first post in a thread appear at the top of the screen when you click on it? I have to skip to the last page to read the first post in a thread. the first post when i click on the thread is the last post in that thread. really annoying.

I'm not sure I am understanding the question.

If you mean the very first post of the thread at the top, that should automatically be the post you go to when you click on the link to the thread.

If you mean go to the first unread post, then you'll need to click on the View New tab at the front of the thread link.

The only other setting I know of is to go to My Home/Settings & Options/edit options Scroll down to Thread Display Options and change the settings there. Here's the instructions for this setting

You have a choice over how you view threads. When you're in a thread, look at the top bar. On the right hand side you'll see 'Display Mode'. Click on this and it lets you change how posts are ordered.


You have three choices:

Linear Mode - posts are displayed chronologically, usually from oldest to newest. Posts are shown in a flat mode so that many posts can be viewed simultaneously. It is possible to change the ordering by changing your preferences in the User CP

Threaded Mode - a tree is shown along with every post. This shows you the relationship each post has to the others. It's easy to see who responded to whom. Only one post is shown at a time. By clicking on a single post in the post tree, the page will show that post and all posts made in response to it.

Hybrid Mode - This is a mixture of the linear and threaded modes. The post tree is displayed as in the threaded mode, but many posts are shown at the same time as in the linear modes.

Well what happens is I click on a thread and the first post that appearsat the top of my screen is the last post in the thread...meaning the newest. So in order for me to see the first post in the thread...basically the original author's question or whatever, I have to go all the way to the last page and then read backwards. I would like to see the first post of the thread at the top & then have them continue from oldest to newestdown the screen, otherwise they seem out of order & are hard to follow. I guess I'm just dumb because it doesn't seem to bother anyone else but I find it annoying to have to basically read backwards.

That's easy to fix! Go to "My Home" on the top left corner of your page. Scroll down to Settings and Options on the left side of that page. Click on "Edit Options". Scroll to Thread Display Options and there's a box that says Thread Display Mode. Change the drop down box from Linear - Newest First to Linear - Oldest First. That's what my settings are on, and I see the oldest starting posts first. Bill's post above explains the differences between the options you have, if you want to use the threaded settings. (I don't use them). That should fix it for ya!
