Question Magical Express question?

Our flight gets in really late, should this be a problem with our luggage? Should I pack the first days clothing and needs in a carry on? I have NEVER flown before so I am airplane/port dumb. I am hoping for a good first experience!

The luggage can take up to 3 hours to get to your resort. I would either pack overnight items in a carry on bag (remember the 3-1-1 rule for liguid/gels - 3 ounces of each item and all itesm for each person must be in 1 quart sized ziploc bag). The other option if you want yout luggage with you is to not use the DME tags and claim it at baggage claim yourself. Then take it over to DME and have it go on the bus with you to the resort.

I completely agree with what Leslie said. You can be responsible for getting your luggage and placing it on the DME bus. Or you can pack your overnight what nots in the carry on. We use DME all the time. Last time we got in late and our luggage came to our room at 2am.

We have the same situation of getting in really late on 12-21. So I am packing pajamas for me, a change of clothes for me and DH for the next day, and plan on using the in room H2O products and only packing the small sizes of immediate needs (such as deo and hairgel) in the carry on. As usual our motto is if we have our meds and our undies we can go anywhere. Of course, I will have my travel purse with necessities and camera and the usual mags and book etc. in the side pocket of the carry on. Plus the carry on has a handle and wheels but is just the size of a tote. I usually check EVERYTHING (one carry on size and one suitcase per person) and just take a small tote with me on board but this time I had to change the plan and go with the flow. Bigred

I would either pack a days worth of items in your carry-ons, or claim you luggage yourself, as previously suggested. On our last trip, we arrived at 8:20pm, and did not receive our luggage from DME until after 9:00am the following morning. It never occurred to me to pack a days worth of items...had we arrived when scheduled, we were delayed several hours, we would have had our things by bedtime even if it did take 4-6 hours. Now I plan on getting by for 12-24 hours with what we can carry, just in case. Just give yourself options, and I'm sure things will be good.

I've read that DME doesn't run 24hrs. So if you know you'll be arriving late I'd take the extra couple of minutes to collect your bags.

DME runs 24/7. luggage delivery service gets halted around 11 pm unless you request it otherwise. this is so you don't have someone banging on your door at 2 am.

luggage can take 3-8 hours to be delivered to the room as per DME.

My first time on a plane was in Sept. going to WDW. I packed my toiletries in a carry on along with a shirt and the unmentionables. It made me feel more secure knowing if I had to ... I could always buy another shirt at the gift shop!

Always carry anything essential in your carry on. This includes medicines, toiletries you can't live without (3oz or less) and a change of clothes. PJ's would be helpful too.

We always pack the bathing suits (and medications) in our carryon. Everything else can wait!

That's not true. DME runs round-the-clock.

If you want to us the DME Luggage service, I'd recommend packing an overnight bag as your carry-on. Our bags were delivered to our room at 1am after a 9:30pm arrival.
Please note that they typically do not deliver bags after 11pm, unless requested to.

I learned the hard way that, whether or not you're using DME, it's truly wise to pack any essential items in your carry-on luggage. On one of our Disney trips, our airline managed to lose both my suitcases and it was over 24 hours before they were finally delivered to me. (This was before the days of DME.)

I would pack what you might need in your carryon(s) to make sure that you have it.

we got in late and had no problem getting it in our room by the time we got there (we ate really late at the resteraunt there at the resort) but we packed all of our overnight stuff in our carry ons - remember to pack your swim suit too in the carryons... my brother wanted to hit the pool and couldn't because he packed his trunks in his checked luggage.
