All of this stuff I am reading about airtran has me worried. Is there anyone out there who knows more about this??? Do I need to worry that we will not have an airline in Oct to fly to WDW? I don't think we can afford to rebook at the last minute with another airline with the way prices are going up. I purchased air tran tickets back in April for an Oct 15 departure. Can anyone tell me what is happening and if I need to start making alternative plans. We are flying out of DFW.
Feel very worried right now!! We are really looking forward to this trip!!! Anyone else in the same boat?
Yes, I am in the same boat, but we fly out in August. Lots of folks have said that their flights have been changed. So far ours are the same. My DSIL who works for Com-Air says we should not worry, and that air tran will still be here in August. Of course we fly out of Dayton, Ohio, where airtran has a hub with much less competion. Airtran has pulled out of a few cities, I read.
Here's hoping both of our trips come off without a hitch!!
We are flying a different airline, but with what is being reported in the news about airlines, we have plan B in place of driving, plan c-another airline, plan d--the train........

I booked in April for our flight Oct 18th and was very dissapointed to see that AirTran has moved our flight time without ony mention to us at all. It will actually hurt us since our flight now gets in at 4pm instead of 10am and I have a conference to attend that day and plans for PFTS that evening. I'm not worried about AirTran going bankrupt but I don't like the change in flight times without notification. I was tempted to call and complain but then I figured that 14 weeks is more than enough time for them to change things 5 more times before we fly out.

We fly airtran Aug 9th so far we are still ok, we fly out of Phila. so I am hoping since it is the larger of the airports in our area we will be ok. Will keep checking the site though each week to be sure.

Love the Magic of Disney Thanks Dad for our first 5 trips.
I HAD a Air Tran flight from Boston to MCO for our upcoming trip in September...I bailed out b/c ,as with you, they kept switching my flight w/o notification and to boot switched from a nonstop flight to a connecting flight. Instead of having a 3 hour trip it was 8+ hours with the layover, Plus the fact we would be flying out at 7:30 am!
IMO if you have the opportunity, try another airline like JetBlue. Fares now are still reasonable. Lots of Luck
The more I read, the happier I am that I choose SW, even though it means driving to Indy. It is only an hour further than Dayton so not too bad. And the flights were cheaper.
We have Airtran booked for our return flight in Oct. They have already changed the departure time once. We keep checking every other day if not every day. We never received a notice either. I had to call them and change our tickets. Our flight was completely gone. We usually try to fly with SouthWest but they didn't have a good time for departure on our Sat. That's why we booked AirTran. We will stick with SouthWest from now on.

Next Vacation: Oct 5 to Oct16 at BLT our first time home
AA has been getting so expensive lately that I was thinking about booking another airline in the future. But now I'm not so sure after reading about other airlines on this board. (Not that AA is so good themselves, mind you! But so far, knock on wood, they haven't been making drastic changes like other airlines.) I've only flown to MCO with AA and SWA. I've found SWA to be fairly reliable. I just don't like what the airlines in general are doing to some of their customers.
I am booked for Oct with Airtran, they sent an email asking/telling me my flight time had been changed, as of NOW, we will get back home one hour earlier than the original flight, there was no change to the leaving at WDW, just a shorter layover in Atlanta, which could be interesting, since getting from one gate to another with the same airline in Atlanta is very time consuming in my previous experience. I am now concerned I could get stuck somewhere I don't want to be with 2 DD's......and have to work the next day.....yippee..... lets get help with pixies! ixie :

planning the next trip...
... just think, we're booked with AirTrain in January ... and you're only worrying about October dates!
We do have contingency plans - the train from Boston to Orlando is a 20+ hour ride, but ... *shrug* as the benefactor doing the actual paying-for has said more than once, now: you do what you have to do, to get to Disney - and that's just all there is. He's a great guy, ain't he?

We are booked on Air Tran for November...the tickets were purchased by our TA...3 by phone and 1 online...better fare by phone but they didn't have 4 tickets at that price. They changed out flights last week...they notified the TA about the 3 tickets but not the online ticket. My advice is if you purchased your tickets online keep checking every day or so...
I believe they will be flying in November but not sure the non stop flights we actually purchased will be at the same times...they have already changed all of that once!!!
Buckle Up for a bouncy ride with all these airlines...they change the schedules to remain competitive with the others who also are doing the same thing.
