Well, they changed our flight for the 2nd time. Our orignal flights were direct to Orlando from Indy and we left at 8:00 to arrive around 10:00. Now we're flying out at 6:55 to arrive at 9:00. Which means we get to leave our house at 2:30-3:00am Now getting to Disney earlier isn't such a bad problem, other than we'll be exhausted that first night (good thing we don't have any late plans that night - let's just say I've learned from the past ).
But coming home is going to be a problem. We always take the latest flight home, even if we can't have a direct flight. We originally were leaving Orlando at almost 9:00pm and getting home just after midnight. Then they moved us back about an hour - not a real big problem, but now we're back all the way to 6:47 - which means we have to leave our bubble at 3:45 in the afternoon. Now THAT makes me unhappy It is a direct flight and the last flight of the day.
The upside is, we have almost $200 in credits now because of all of their changes AND we watch flights to see when they go down in price and call them for credit. But what I want to know. If they open a later flight, because THEY canceled our other flights and NEVER wrote or called us (good thing we look ourselves - and she tried to insist that they email their customers - right - So if they open up a later flight, do you think they'll let us switch back withOUT penalty. I mean they're the ones who canceled our original late flights and I'm going to be really if they don't let us switch back.
I have to say this too. This is the FIRST time I've had trouble with AirTran and still think they are a great airline with really great prices, even with the economy if you watch you can get a good price. I know this is happening everywhere. I'm just a bit bummed about the return flight.

It could be worse. I just checked - and they changed us from a 7:10am nonstop out of Boston, to a 6:30 ... with a layover in Baltimore. My g/f absolutely cannot fly twice, in the same day (severe phobia issues). I do not know what that will mean for our plans ... it may even scrub Disney altogether if I can't fix it. She's that afraid to fly.
They DO still have a nonstop flight, at 8:45am ... and there are seats available. While seats are not on offer for the prices we were paying, I will not accept "no" for an answer when I call to fix this.
Excuse me, but I need to go let loose a long string of serious expletives, and this isn't the right venue for that. I'll probably have time for that twice, while on hold with AirTran, actually.

I've been watching my flights from Indy with AirTran in November like a hawk. Lucikly, they have been to the advantage for both flights right now. We got an email 2 weeks after the change was posted online. That's the first and only time I have been contacted by AirTran when there has been a flight change. So I feel ya! We are coming up the night before and staying at a park-n-fly before so we can get a semi-decent amount of sleep.
Well good luck with the getting seats on the non-stop flight (as that's what you had to begin with!) I'd be reiterating that when I call to get the situation taken care of AND g/f phobia. Be strong, stay calm, and hopefully they'll fix things for the better!

I believe they will change you regardless of the price of the new flight. If THEIR change to your schedule doesn't work, you can tell them the flight you need to be on and if there's room they have to put you there.
Update: after an interminable time on hold, once I finally got ahold of a human being, the change was made with no problems at all.
... I do have anxiety/stress issues, so I tend to panic a bit, but still ... I don't understand why we weren't still on a nonstop flight. We'll be flying an hour and a half later than before, but that's survivable (I resolved early on to make no ADRs for the entire first day, especially not lunch, so we stayed somewhat flexible time-wise).
Thanks for the pixie-dust, it seems ot have done the trick.

We gave up and got our money back from Midwest air. The plan now is to watch whats going on, find out who is still flying and whose going bankrupt. Then maybe I'll try booking flights in Oct or Nov. If not, the play is to drive it.

we are using air tran for the first time in october. we are hoping that if there is another change with us -- they will let us cancel my return flight as I'm now flying directly to San Jose for a conference from Orlando.
I checked on my flights and sure enough all the non-stop morning flights have been canceled. I am now on a connecting flight through ATL. My 2-1/2 hour trip is now 5 hours long, and I have to leave the house at 3:30 - 4:00AM for a 6AM flight.
AirTran assured me that I can cancel the whole round-trip or just one portion at no cost because they made the changes (and didn't tell me). Or I can move them to any other flights within a 3 day period (the day before, day of, or day after my original date.) I don't think I want to do anything until its closer to Dec. Chances are anything I change it to will also be rearranged.
I second the idea of staying at a hotel with a park, ride & fly package the night before, as we're about an hour & half away from Indy & like those early-morning flights.
We've been pretty happy with the LaQuinta on Western ave - PM me if you need a phone #.
I asked Sam about the park, ride & Fly and he said he's just not interested. Bummer, cause the first day/night we are EXHAUSTED on our trips.
I did want to say that we have flown AirTran about a bazillion times and we have never ever had them change or cancel a flight on us. Our flights were FULL coming back and almost full going and they are still changing them. I just wish they'd make up their minds and get settled already!
