Hi gang, just had a question about the pricing on Southwest.com Now I know we are Jetblue people, but I was just browsing the other airlines and their prices
Why/What is the Wanna Get Away pricing? For instance, I am pricing flights from Boston to California and their pricing looks like this
Business Select $469
Anytime $444
Wanna Get Away $149
Why is the price so so so much cheaper for the Wanna Get Away option?
Wanna Get Away is a non-refundable rate. The others you listed are refundable.
Now if the Wanna Get Away rate goes down or you need to cancel the trip, you can get a credit to use within a year of the original booking, but you cannot get your money back.
Southwest used to list their fares in different color columns, similar to Airtran's website. About two years ago (??) they decided to eliminate all of the colorful columns on the site and just go with the three fares you mentioned.
Wanna Get Away is only available on their website, I believe.
Remember: Business select on Southwest is nothing more than guaranteed A-group boarding and I think a free drink. You get the same seat as everyone else...there is no business class section like on Air Tran and no more leg room seats (except the exit row) like Jet Blue offers.
Wow that is surprising that the fare is so much lower just because it is non refundable. It looks like all of their flights have a stop over at another city, which i'm not a fan of at all. Something to think about though. Thanks for the info!
We have flown Southwest several times and chosen the Wanna Get Away fare. I had no idea that you could get a credit if the rate went down, which has happened a couple of times. Thanks for the info Straitlover!

Yes, and SW has no change fees either. Our trip in October I booked back in June and it dropped drastically so we got a credit of over $400... so we are booked for another Trip in February to use that credit

You may want to check Providence or Manchester depending where in NE you are too. We have found flights from PVD to SAN with a stop (no plane change) for only $99/each way a few times in the past. Good luck!
I exclusively fly to MCO on SW. I always book and watch for price drops. It's great to have the credits to apply to your next flight. Plus the no bag fee is saving you quite a bit of money too. There are usually a minimum of 2 nonstop flights per day to MCO out of Pitt and I aleays choose nonstop.
