Angry Does Delta EVER have 25K award seats available???

I guess this is more of a Delta issue than a Disney issue, but last year we were able to book DH's and my flights using Skymiles and got it at the lowest tier of 25,000 each. Now, I can't find any 25,000 mile flights, hardly any at the 32,500 level, with the remainder coming in at 40,000. Oh, and it seems like when you do see one measly 25K flight, it tends to be a red eye. I'm sorry, Delta, but really? A red eye? Not with a 4- and 2-year old.

Anybody else notice this trend or maybe they've just cut back award flights for my route?

Detroit to Orlando had some in December then when I went to book January 24th for April 20th they had none. If you want them you have to book really far in advance for some reason. I did the pay with points. Took $150.00 off each of all 4 of us! This may be a good option for you rather than getting the free red eye nobody wants!

I wonder if it's that they are offering less seats for that or if plane ticket prices are getting so ridiculous that people are choosing to use their points instead of finding a good rate and saving the points? All I know is that I'm going to Brazil in 2014 and we are using points for one of the tickets (it will be DH and myself) and good luck to them if they try to keep me from it!!! LOL

I hope you are able to find something, or use the points as a discount like the other poster suggested.

We planned to use dh's 40,000 points for a free ticket and have points left. I was stunned at the airfareep prices for august...and was further stunned to find out that one ticket would wipe out his entire point stash!

I figure it has to do with points never expiring and the 30,000 point headstart they give you fpr the amex. No longer seems like the good deal it once did...

Usually, every low miles flight is first out and first/last back. I usually have to start looking almost 10 months in advance to find anything. The closer you get the less flights are available. Sometimes they open up the flights 2-3 weeks before, but by then it could be too late.

It's been a long time since we booked a seat for 25,000. I just assume a ticket will run me 40,000 and am thrilled if I can come in under that.

I just booked reward travel with Continental. It took me all day. Multiple calls to find an agent that would go the extra to make it work for the 2500 miles. I had to be a little flexible with time, and dates but did it. Some of the agents just don't want to do a little extra work to find something.
Good luck, and be persistent.

I've had reasonable luck getting 12,500 flights (25k round-trip), but they haven't been on ultra-popular routes like Orlando.

I have had the same issues when flying Delta in/out of Tampa. Most of the time, I seems that I need a minimum of 32,500 miles in order to redeem for a flight. It seems that the acquisition of Northwest a few years back made Delta too big.
