FRUSTRATED!!! with United! (long...)

So, I'm looking at our reservations this evening to start prepping my spreadsheet for our December trip and wanted to get the confirmation numbers and couldn't find DH & DD's reservation email. So, I asked DH to resend it to me. And HE didn't have the confirmation email.

I was concerned because we had $400 worth of vouchers, but I had to CALL United to use them. They charge $25/ticket to book on the phone and said that they would charge my credit card with the entire booking and then credit back the $400 when I MAILED IN the original vouchers. Okay, let's make this EASY on the customer. So, it only took 1 1/2 hours to book two flights, get the information and then I mailed in the coupons the following Monday.

Well, I decided to see if I had gotten my credit yet and so I went to look at the card I used to book the flights and there was NO CHARGE for the tickets. So, I called the other company and there was NO CHARGE. So, I looked on the website and found the confirmation number with the total for the flights, but NO indication that they were EVER PAID. So I have two flight that are confirmed but NO TICKETS, NO CHARGES and NO VOUCHERS!

I called United and was put on hold for about 30 minutes and the agent saw the confirmation # but had NO idea if/when/whether my card was going to be charged or if the flights were still valid. Now I'm waiting for a call back from United. I have NO idea what I'm in for. All I know is I booked two flights, sent in $400 worth of vouchers and don't know if I have any flights for December!

I booked a flight on American using vouchers that had to be mailed in, and it took nearly a month to receive a confirmation, so there is s chance your flight is still being processes. It is odd that your credit card wasn't charged if United said it would be, though. Good luck getting this figured out and your flight fully confirmed!

I though from the title this post would be a complaint about United changing flight times. they just moved a June flight of ours back over 2 hours -- we deliberately chose a 10:30 am flight do we couldn't have to get up early, and it's now just after 8 am. So, be sure to verify your flight time, too.

I hope everything works out well for you!
Melissa

I'm fully expecting our flight times to change--sometime--at least once! Though I HATE that airlines can do that, at least we would have flights.

United DID NOT call me back light night like they said they would. Why doesn't that surprise me?? My fear is the $$ of flights has gone up by $200/flight, so DH & DD may have to flight out of Omaha, while I try and fly out of Lincoln, increasing the cost of the trip as we would have to pay to house 2 cars for a week, not one! Now the waiting game!

Okay-I'm back "on-hold" with United. The current word is that my flights are in "pending" status and that the tickets are guaranteed even though I have not paid for them yet. They are in "pending" status. (nightmares of 2007 are floating before my eyes!) I did not WANT to book through an phone agent. I wanted to purchase on-line! I could not do that! I had to purchase on the phone.

The United agent is now telling me that I may not get these ticketed until 7 days before the flight! I'm seeing months of agony (I know I can dramatize things with the best of them!) I know tonight all I'm going to hear in my sleep is the United "bum, bum, bum, bum" theme song.

Right now I'm trying to find out if they can find the $400 worth of vouchers, as I'm thinking that's what they are waiting for. I need some "mousetime"!

For once Delta seems to have the better system I've never had to mail a Delta voucher, just enter the number online.

My wife had to do the same thing when booking our November tickets on Delta. Very easy.

Yikes. I hope you sent the vouchers registered mail. I miss Continental too

United just changed my flight- cancelled my early morning connection, so gave me a 5 hr layover in Chicago, yuck. So I phoned them and, no problem, they changed my flights, now going thru Houston.
