Anyone use the WDW site to book a flight with your package?

I have been playing with dates and such to see when we could afford to go back to WDW. I decided to use the flight reservation part of the reservation system on the WDW site. I found that booking a flight for 3 adults from western NY to MCO would only increase the cost of the trip by $250. What am I doing wrong? This can not be right, but I have gone back on different occasions and it still comes to the same. All of the info. is correct, dates, # and ages of people, etc. I even "talked to someone online, and they seemed to think it was right too. Hmmmm...
Anyone have any info. or is it just incredibly inexpensive to add air trans. to the package?
Thanks

Sometimes you can get really good rates booking the "extras" with Disney. I haven't done the airfare portion but last year I booked our rental car with Disney. We booked a luxury Caddy for a little over $400 for our time frame. When I compared that cost with pretty much every car rental company at Orlando International, it was over 200 CHEAPER through Disney. And I tried everything for discounts too - AAA, BJ's club, car club, etc.

Of course the only thing I can think of to add is just make sure it's round trip airfare for you. I can't see that it wouldn't be but it doesn't hurt to double check. And good luck. I do hope it's a really great rate for you.

I have never had to add airfare for myself but have added airfare to quotes for some of my clients and have found it to be a bit cheaper for them going through Disney every time (unless they only want to fly Southwest, in which case it has always been cheaper to book their own airfare separately)!

Anytime you book airfare as part of package, the airfare is going to be cheaper than if you book it separately.

Not neccesarily.

What happens is a travel supplier (like Disney) *may* purchase a bulk lot of airfare and they can sell it a little cheaper when included in a package. Bulk air is different than published air. Sometimes these are date specific, airline specific...but it really does vary greatly.

I priced out a trip for someone a few weeks ago and priced Jet Blue outside of the package and with a package from Disney. The price was the same. To the penny.

It's always worth investigating, because you never know what you can find. Honestly though, in my years pricing out trips for people, it's only been cheaper inside of a package a handful of times.

I always book our air with Disney when I book our package. I used to check around to see if it was a better deal but in the end, the convenience won out over anything. I like just booking it all at once and being done. All wrapped up with a nice Disney bow so to speak

I booked our air with WDW the last trip and it was exactly the same cost as if I had booked with Delta seperately. It was just very convenient to book it all together - However - if you need to cancel your reservation you have to do it thru WDW and can only use the remaining airfare after the cancellation fees towards another WDW vacation!!! If you booked directly thru the airline then you call them and rebook your flights to wherever if you for some very sad and unfortunate reason cannot rebook for WDW. For this reason I haven't done it again.

(At one point I thought we were going to have to change our dates and called Delta to change the flight and they advised me I had to call the orginal travel agency - WDW - to make any changes. Then I called WDW and the CM confirmed that flights booked thru WDW can only be modified to another flight/vacation package with WDW. Obviously I found a way to make it work rather than lose the cost of our fights entirely.)
