If you want to leave your luggage at the desk on your last day so you can go to the parks for a bit, what about your carryon luggage? Do you leave that there, too? Thanks!
After checking my normal luggage with Resort Air line check in service (RAC), I then take my carryon luggage to Bell Services and have them hold it for me.
Just make sure you are back to your resort in plenty of time to pick it up from Bell Services before your DME bus arrives.
I usually plan extra time for the buses from the park to the resort too. I also like to go to the closest park to the resort so I can make the most of my day. One time I had just over 2 hours at AK and was staying at AKL so only a 5 min bus ride. I figured 40 minutes for the bus ride back in case I missed the bus would give me plenty of time. Little did I know I would get trapped on the Safari!! The animals were in the road and would not move! They had to get handlers out to physically move them! Needless to say, in my 2 hours, I only did one thing and headed straight back to the hotel!
I usually tip the bell service people for holding my bags for me on check out day. Not sure how other people do it, but I only tip them when I pick the bags up since the same people are there when I drop off as when I pick up.
We also allow 2 hours to get from the park back to the resort. During our last trip in May, it took 45 minutes for a bus to arrive to take us from MK to SSR. Granted, buses usually arrive every 20 minutes, but sometimes they don't. This is the second time this has happened to us on our departure day.
Luckily for us, bell services was great about retrieving our carry ons quickly so we could hop on the DME bus.
I have gone to a park before DME, cause I had a 3pm pick up, and also had lunch at GF. I always figure, if bus wait is too long, I can get a cab back to my resort, for a Plan B.
