Can I get the price adjusted as a credit toward a future flight?
I thought I read this somewhere before...
I just did that a few days ago. It's very easy to do online. On the SW web site use the Travel Tools pull down; select Change Air Reservation; enter your information; then select you new flights. If it's the exact same flight numbers that you booked previously, just select the same flights again.
The adjustment is done automatically and you receive a confirmation screen that shows the amount of your future flight credit. My understanding is that if you paid for your early bird check in when you made your original flight plans you will not lose your place in line. When I spoke to a rep I was told that the EB check in date remains the same.
Unless they have changed the policy, you have one year from the orginal date you purchased the tickets to use the credits. So if you ourchased your original tickets on June 2 and received a credit on Aug7, you have until June 2 to use the credits.
Also keep in mind that the SW funds will only be available to the person named on the original ticket. This a change in policy from a few years ago. In the past you could apply the funds to anyone. Kind of stinks BUT name me another airline that makes reservation changes so easy with no change fees.
