Despite the fact that we literally drove through 15 inches of snow for four and a half hours (which would normally take us only an hour and a half) we left Milwaukee on time, flight out of Chicago to MCO was 1hr and 1/2 behind, when it did arrive air compression do dad thing a ma jig wasn't working so they needed to order a new part and it would be at least 40 min wait, well that became an hour. They then boarded us, and began to taxi us off, thats when the air compression do dad thing a ma jig didn't work again even with the new part, guess what they ordered another new part and tried to fix it again taxing us back in......After sitting there for yet another 40 min and about 3mins after I happened to say out loud "Why dont they just put us on another plane." "Attention passengers, blah blah you will be boarding another plane." Guess what an hour later, we were on hour way so instead of arriving at 11:30 AM we got to MCO at 5:30!!!! LOVELY, however I am grateful that they foud the problem b4 we were in the sky, but that was just too long.....having to sit, with no potty breaks, nothing to drink or eat......a VERY long day for everyone, We made it here thats all that matters!!!
So glad you made it there between the snow and mechanical problems with the plane, that really starts things off on the note. First time we were flying with Kids that happened, something wrong with engine, DIL was so frantic. After 2 hrs, they decided we needed to fly a different plane, that arrived and once they had the plane ready we were off, but it was a long wait with the kids. Have a fun trip.

Glad everything worked out okay in the end, but what a nightmare in the meantime. I remember having to sit on the tarmac for two hours before we left for Hawaii. That was a crazy experience.
Hopefully the rest of the trip makes up for it!! Have an awesome time

I remember sitting on the runway for 3 hours. Waiting in line to have the plane de-iced. It was long. plus we were delayed on the way down for thunderstorms. Thus from the moment on. We made the choice. Only early morning flights, and non stop if at all possible.!!
If it makes you feel any better, I will share my summer travel story. The morning of our flight out. I send DH to the van at the hotel. He is gone for awhile and I figure he is eating. Then I get a phone call from his cell. "I am stuck in the elevator, the fire dept is coming to get me." I proceed to laugh and tell him that is not funny. He said well I am not joking and they are hear. So I went to the elevator. No working.....Hmmm. Look outside, dang. There sat 2 heavy rescue trucks and a fire engine. So......sometime later DH crawled up the elevator shaft with a ladder to freedom. Now that's a not fun way to start your vacation. I much rather be at an airport/airplane, rather being stuck at the hotel wondering if we will make it to the airport.
Oh my gosh nursemom what a terrible situation, I mean really I would not want to be stuck in an elevator at all let alone when you are needing to head out to an airport for vacation. Gosh I will think about that next trip. Can you imagine if you would have small children or infant with you in elevator and that happen. What a nightmare. We usally do the going to the car to put in the night stuff and things we took to occupy the GK. Things that we are not taking with us. So something that could happen, maybe next time we will use the stairs.
