How much does Tiffany save over cab?

In 56 days & 4 minutes, we leave the Anchorage airport heading to WDW. My husband was surprised at the $80 cost for Tiffany's towncar. I tried to explain the ease & benefits, like stopping at a grocery store on the way, as explained in the book, but he just has to understand the reasons. How much is the cabfare from the airport to CBR?

Re: How much does Tiffany save over cab?

Taxi rates are something like $3.75 for the first mile and $2.50 for each additional mile. It's at least 15 miles from the airport to WDW, or more, depending on which resort you're going to. That comes to roughly $41 one-way if you're lucky, more if the mileage is greater.

Tiffany is $80 round trip (list price). You can get a $5 coupon at their Web site, and if you have PassPorter Walt Disney World 2000 you'll find an $8 coupon in the back of the book.

When you add the extra comfort, the help with your baggage at the airport, and the grocery stop (be sure to request the grocery shop prior to your arrival), how can you compare?

If there are just the two of you, you can save money using the Mears shuttle. With the $3-off coupon that comes with your Disney resort confirmation it's $24 per person round trip. It's a bus ride, you don't get help with your baggage, and you should allow at an additional 45 minutes travel time in each direction.

Thanks Dave! That's exactly what I needed. As if I wasn't already driving everyone crazy with my planning and excitement, this website has just made me more excited--if that's possible! We're actually taking our 4-year-old with us, so Tiffanys sounds wonderful. I never would have known about them without you!

barries5199, you won't be disappointed with the service you receive from Tiffany Towncar service. They are very professional and friendly.

With a Towncar service, you feel a little more pampered (actually you feel GREAT! )

Your time to go will be here before you know it! We leave in just 4 days, 17 hours, 32 min....

Re: How much does Tiffany save over cab?

Thanks for all the positive comments. I called Tiffany's, made a reservation and mentioned I'd like to make a grocery store stop. The reservation clerk was very professional and very helpful. Since I live in Alaska, I wouldn't even know the names of the streets or grocery stores...and now I don't have to! Thanks again everyone.

Called Tiffany and made a reservation, Lots cheaper than others! $45.00 one way to the airport, she said either a towncar or we can request a mini-van!! Super nice to work with.

Re: How much does Tiffany save over cab?

We just got back and used Tiffany, it was great. David our driver was very nice, don't forget to tip them. He even brought a van for the five of us and it didn't cost us anything extra. On the website it said it was $10.00 extra. It was so cool having they waiting for us at the airport with my name on a card, I took photos of it.

Re: How much does Tiffany save over cab?

We were slightly disappointed (sp) in Mears last time we went to WDW. It took a very long time to get to our resort because of all the other stops along the way. The driver was friendly, but didn't have the time to help us with our luggage. He basically just stacked our luggage on the side walk and wished us a happy trip. (There was a lot more stops to make) I'm going with Tiffany next month and am looking forward to the extra grocery stop and help with the luggage.
