Hey all
Just got back from a quick trip to Disney. I live on the West Coast of Florida sooo this has been a stressful month or so. Had this quick weekend trip planned since June. Took advantage of the play 4 days and Fl residents rates. Stayed at Wilderness Lodge. It was in great shape as was all the World. You could see in some of the real woodsey areas that Charley and Frances did some damage to pine trees but for all the parks and hotel landscaping...all looked pretty darn good. Friday was the BEST day as the crowds were really light. Walked right into Splash, Peter, WInnie etc. and same with Epcot. But today was a different story. Everyone came on down. And I am sure Disney is very happy about that. The Crowds were in full swing today. So I am happy to report that you all can come on down to Florida. Things look great at the most magical place in the world.
I'm glad you got to relax after those storms! We had a similar experience, walking right onto rides, right after Charley. I'm glad you had a good time!
Hey! We just got back from our week at Riverside today and yes the parks and resorts looked great! All week the throngs of people stayed away the only busy day we had was Friday at AK.
I walked around while we were there wondering who near me might also be on the passporter board!
Thanks everyone for the first hand updates. So glad to hear WDW faired as well as they did through these hurricanes. And I guess it's good to know people are returning to the parks. (Although if they had decided to wait until after 10/8 that would have been fine with me! )

We had the same experience (9/15-19). We rode Splash Mountain three times without getting off our raft. CMs in Fantasyland were *begging* us to come onto their rides. The place was empty on 9/16 and 9/17. By mid-afternoon on 9/18, the crowds started to build. The pool at AKL was PACKED on Saturday.
And all the damage people had photographed is already repaird. The Sorcerer Mickey and brooms at MGM looked like nothing had happened to it. Every once in a while, you'd see a pine tree snapped in half or laying sideways, but that was only on the highways, never near the parks (although their was one tree down in the bus loop at AKL).
Disney is amazing to have come out of two hurricanes with such minimal damage (and with such a quick recovery).
It's great that WDW has recovered so quickly. I just wish it were so for all of the other "average" FL residents who have and still are suffering from the hurricanes! Pixie dust to all of them.
Barbara, I'm so glad that you had a good time on your Disney trip. I find it mind-boggling that Disney manages to clean everything up so quickly after such horrendous storms.
Monorails packed to capacity, 45 mins to an hour wait for Space, Splash, Thunder etc. Walking was a little harder due to bigger throngs of people. For September thats crowded. Nowhere like Summer or Christmas.
