| Re: L&M vs Alamo Hi Becky,
I've rented from both many times, and I've never had any problem with either of them. My cars have always been new and clean (well, except for one Alamo car in Minneapolis, which they assigned to us, and it smelled like a stable - not bad, but there) There are some differences with each. The only down side I've had with Alamo is that the line at the rental counter is always LONG. The up side is that you go out to the parking garage and pick out your own car, and avoid getting old, dirty cars (of course this depends on what's available. I usually travel with 2-3 older teens, and they're all over that place to find the best car before I'm even out of the terminal). The only problem with L&M was they hassle you a little about insurance ("no thank-you, no thank-you, no thank-you...as sweet as sugar) and they pick out your car, and the last one we had was ALL the way on the other side of the parking garage. The up-side was always a much cheaper rate at L&M, and never any wait at the rental counter (which made me nervous at first, but it was always OK). I'd just tell you to go with whichever
company you feel comfortable with, as long as the price suits you. I'm sure there are plenty of nightmare stories out there with every rental company. |
