Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures The rules for us here in the UK are NO electronics of ANY kind. Not even car key fobs You can bring baby milk but only if someone tastes it ! Sunglasses are allowed but NO cases Contact lenses but not in solution Tissues but not in boxes Sanitary items but only enough for the flight Medication but again only enough for the flight You are really only allowed passports tickets and wallets containing money and credit cards THAT'S IT I'm now really wondering how I'm going to keep the boys ammused during the flight to Malta. I know it's only 4 hours long but I had planned on taking the portable DVD players as there is NO in-flight entertainment of any sort on Air Malta planes. As of right now we can't even take kids colouring books and crossword puzzle books onboard !!!

Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures Thanks for the update, Isabel! that when the time comes you'll be able to bring something along to amuse the boys! I do have to wonder who determines what quantity of "sanitary items" are "enough" for a flight... - Laurie

Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures [ QUOTE ] The hard thing for me is that we like to do carry-on only for our short trips [/ QUOTE ] That's what we do also. Maybe we should just ship everything down in a box and check a few empty suitcases. But, I am all for whatever it takes to keep our airlines safe. And to be honest, I am a bit surprised that these items weren't banned years ago.

[/ QUOTE ] Is this something we can find online? we fly AA in 15 days I want to make sure I do everything correct I went to their web site and it was not opening |

Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures I went on Continental's website earlier today and it also wasn't opening--perhaps too many visitors to the sites today. Maybe try again a little later. We are flying from EWR to PBI next week to introduce our 16-month-old DD to our 5-week-old niece and it will be the first time in about 15 years for my mom on an airplane. This is very nervewracking.

Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures FYI: Juice if traveling with a small child/infant was taken off the list earlier today. Only formula/breast milk is allowed *if* traveling with a small child now.

Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures On our local news tonight they were showing items not allowed in carry-ons, one of the items I hadn't thought of was deodorant. Thanks for all the updates. I never would have thought about lip gloss. I'm addicted to hand cream and DH is addicted to saline nasal spray when we fly. I guess those are out too. tenya

| Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures Even if you check all that you can still expect them to rummage thru your luggage even more than usual. i am just going to stop at target and buy all my toiletries that i can down there. Some I can't because i use Clinique or whatever but what I must check will go in a Ziploc as well as all my undies and bras....don't want anyone flinging my panties around or wearing them on their heads, lol! | Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures I guess chapstick counts as lip gloss. How am I going to fly without chapstick? Hopefully the restrictions will be a little relaxed by the time we go. We can't complain. I can't imagine sitting on a flight from UK without even a book to read! |

Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures According to the Updated TSA: Prohibited Items List, solid lip glosses and blushes are allowed. If it is a cream or gel, it is not allowed (i.e Carmex and Blistex in a tube). As for purchasing something at an airport shop after security, they really have no idea what was purchased after you went through security, therefore it will be taken. Besides, it wasn't the individual item that was a concern, it was the combination of the liquids and gels that was the concern. Solid chapsticks are now allowed so you won't have a problem.

Re: Suggestions for new Security Procedures I was getting good at packing just carryon but I guess I'll check one bag now. Glad to hear I can still take my laptop and camera as carryon.
