My experience was that the price to reserve a seat was $5 a seat when I was originally making my reservations, but when I went into their web page later to check my reservations the charge to pick seats was now up to $7.50. I'm not sure if that is how it always is though, since it was our first time flying with them.

We flew Airtran last September and would'nt hesitate to fly with them again. We recieved great service for a budget airline. And we arrived ahead of schedule both to and from Orlando.

We flew AirTran in June for our trip to WDW, and our overall experience was great. Outbound we boarded the plane and then had to wait due to a damaged part. To make a long story short, that flight never left the airport, BUT AirTran got us on a SW flight that arrived within minutes of our original. We sat down as that SW flight started to taxi, so you know some fancy footwork went on. For our troubles, we got complimentary roundtrip tickets. We're using them to go back to WDW in Dec.

I cheaped out and did not pay for the seat assignment. For both our outbound and return flights my DH, DD and I were seated together.

We have flown Airtran several times and never had a bad experience. We will be flying on them again this December.

I'm glad all the reports are good, as we are flying AirTran this December, also for the first time. When I booked, they were the closest time frame I could get to my cancelled United flights AND they were less than half the price!!!

I fly AirTran all the time! Sign up for their frequent flier club and weekly email. They have one of the easiest FF programs on the market--its based completely on number of flights taken--rather than miles flown. I've found that using their web specials they are often cheaper than SW and fly to more places!
