Airtran seats using Cheap Tickets- Help

I haven't flown in a few years and I bought our four tickets to MCO through Cheap Tickets and they picked AirTran. I have no ideas what seats we'll have and I'm terrified that my two young children won't get to sit with us. What can I do? They've never flown before and I also read that people who paid the extra for seat assignment won't give up their seats for us to sit together. I had no idea that this was an option and I can't figure out how to purchase seat assignment via Cheap Tickets. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

I would call airtran directly and see what your options are for reserving seats. I can tell you that it is $5.00 per person per flight if this helps. And, yes, with assigned seating I would imagine it would be a problem to get people to swap you seats since they paid for those specific seats for a reason themselves. Example being, I travel with my 4 girls...I pay extra for us to be assured that we sit together, so giving up our seats together so someone else can sit together would not be logical.

I ALWAYS fly airtran....their customer service is top notch....so I don't think it'll be a problem. Just for future reference though....very seldom do those sights beat airtrans price for flights on their own website...I personally would rather book directly through the airline....things like this end up being less of a hassle.

Good Luck! And enjoy your trip!

I'd call them, but I'm not sure if they can do anything because you didn't buy the tickets direct thru their site. They may direct you back to Cheap Tickets. I'd voice your concerns and see what they have to say. Be prepared to pay extra, though...they do charge to pick you seat ahead of time. They may also charge a service fee on top of this.

If you have to wait until you check in online, do so as soon as the 24 hour window opens up to have the best chance of sitting together.

Good luck to you!

Thank you - I called AirTran and was able to purchase seat assignments today. I'm so relieved! I think I will just go to the airline directly next time. We're going to WDW! I'm so excited! Jane

Thanks for this post. I booked AirTran through American Express Travel and couldn't get seats in advance at all. Am Ex said I had to wait until 24 hrs earlier. I called AirTran just now and the $48 is worth my peace of mind. Our seats are selected and they gave me an AirTran Conf number to use for online boarding passes 24 hours prior.

It's now $6 per person per flight.

I love these boards!

The same thing happens if you include Air Tran flights on a Disney package through the Walt Disney Travel Company. They (WDTC) can't have the seats assigned but if you call Air Tran they can assign them for the fee.

Yeah!!! I've flown airtran and love them. It's worth paying for the seat assignment to have a piece of mind. Have a 'magical' time in June!
