6 AM flight and smalls kids

Ok, an other question about flying... You can tell it's my 1st time with young ones... So we have a flight with delta at 6am. Since it's not an international flight we only need to be 2hours in advance so it means 4am at the airport which is 30 min from our home... We're taking a cab so we wont bother anyone abut I don't have a clue on how to deal with my kids!

It's the first time they're fling and I was thinking about getthing them to bed early, wake them up 15 min before we leave home, get them to the airport in their PJs and dress them later! I really don't know and was wondering if any of you have any good tips for me?
Thanx
Geneviève

That's pretty much what we do, too! It's warm when we go and their pjs are not much different than tshirts and shorts. I throw so sandals on them and we're off! I'm totally packed the night before and we drive about an hour to the airport. The sleep in the car in the way, too. They're a little groggy at the airport and generally sleepy on the flight........but by the time we land.........we're off! I carry a change of clothes for them in the carry-ons and their bathing suits. We generally spend our first day at the resort/pool/hanging out so the next morning we're ready and well rested to hit the parks!

Hi,
When we fly with my son, who is now 17 months old, we leave him in his pj's until we get to the airport. We give him breakfast but I also try to not give him anything to drink. That way he will drink water or milk during takeoff and we don't have to worry about his ears not popping. He is a good flier so we have been very lucky. He usually sleeps on the plane, at least most of the flights he's taken. Good luck and have a great trip.

Thats what we did. Brought his clothes in the carry on, and changed him when we switched planes.

My DD was 4 when we went last May and we had to be at the airport at like 4;30am. I woke her right before we had to leave. She was so chipper cause she knew where we were going!! I couldn't believe how happy she was. She was good for a while and ended up falling asleep on the plane and slept for most of the ride...which was great. She was so excited to get to Disney and even made it to watch Spectro that night...she crashed in her stroller before Wishes though!

Our flight leaves at 7 am...therefore we have to be at the airport by 5 am..and we will need to be up by 4 am...my boys are 7 & 9 now.....not sure what I will do about their clothes yet, but I doubt they will be getting much sleep anyways....I will probably just leave them in their shorts and t-shirts.

I would actually put them to sleep the night before in their clothes...and skip the pjs altogether!

Dd and I are flying out at 7am in July. Dh and ds have to drive us to the airport at 4:30am. Dh isn't thrilled about it, but he wants to use my car when we are gone so he is willing to pay the price!

Find some cute little soft short sets that have elastic waist instead of buttons or snaps and have them sleep in those. Wake them up 10 or fifteen minutes before your cab will be at the house to use the toilet and brush their teeth. I'm sure they will be fine!

If you are not worried about nighttime wetting, put them to sleep in their clothes. My daughters never care about being woken up in the middle of the night to go to Disney.

Why not put the children to bed the night before in something they can wear on the plane? That way you can get them up just before you leave and have breakfast in the airport. My kids didn't like changing at the airport and that just led to greater frustration for all. Also we brought cereal and fruit with us and the kids were able to eat when they were ready, one in the car on the way, and one at the airport.

That is a subject to great debate still here at home! PJs or not!!! I like the idea of having them sleep in comfy clothes (like they would for a nap!) My dd4 still wears puli-up at night so bedwetting is always on my mind Thanks all for your advice.

We have a 7:20am flight so we are having the kids sleep in their shorts & t-shirts, and we'll just throw their flip flops on them when we leave. we'll put all the suitcases in the kitchen the night before.

My DD's are 18, 13, 10, and 7. I have never had a problem waking them up early. I just have everything ready the night before and wake them up 20minutes before we leave. They hit the bathroom, brush teeth, get dressed and we go. We always get breakfast at the airport. 9 out of 10 times, they all doze while waiting to board, and again on the plane. We are leaving at 4:30am in August to get our flight out of Baltimore, so they have a 90minute car ride. I can guarantee they will all be asleep before we leave our development!

I'm sure not going to be voted "Mother of the Year". I would tell them to wear clothes to bed and in the AM just make them do toilet and teeth and then go....if too young to 'tell' then they would just be dressed in clothes and they wouldn't notice anyway. We usually have to leave home at the crack of a sparrow chirp but actually don't board a plane until after lunch, by then the kids have probably already had to change their shirts once - LOL!

We usually spend the night at a hotel near the airport where we can leave our vehicle. That way we don't have to get up extra early just to drive the hour to the airport. My kids are used to getting up early during the week, so it's pretty easy to get them up and change their clothes. I always make them wear something comfy for the airplane with a sweater for layering and slip on shoes for security.
