No problem--I was confused so I sat down and looked at all of them--wrote it out and decided it would be silly not to share it! I fly lots of different airlines--whoever has the best price--but the bag policy changes the cost of flying with each airlline so I needed it in front of me when I was looking at tickets for my next flight!

United has changed their policy. I received an email from them stating:

If you are traveling on or after August 18, 2008 on an Economy ticket or Economy award ticket purchased on or after June 13, 2008, a $15 service fee will apply for your first checked bag. Also, as previously announced, a $25 fee will apply for a second checked bag, depending on when you purchased your ticket and when you are traveling. .
Checked baggage fees summary If you purchased your tickets…and are traveling…then the following fees will apply to check bags:

Purchased:Before February 4, 2008 ;Traveling Anytime: First bag: $0 Second:$0
Purchased Beween 2/4/08 and 6/12/08; traveling Anytime: First bag: $0 Second:$25
Purchased 6/13/08 or later, Travelingbetween 6/13/08 and 8/17/08 First bag: $0 Second: $25
PucrhcasedOn or after 6/13/08, Travel on or after 8/18/08 First: $15 Second$25
Baggage fee exceptions
You are exempt from the above fees for checking your first two bags if you are:
  • traveling in United First® or United Business®;
  • a Global ServicesSM, Mileage Plus® 1K®, Premier Executive®, Premier® or Premier Associate® member;
  • a Star Alliance® Gold or Silver member; or one of up to 8 persons traveling on the same reservation as an aforementioned member, or,
  • military personnel traveling on orders.
I guess I luck out as Sulley is a Premier member. As long as I travel with him, anyway!
