| DME and Southwest??? Forgive me if this has been answered before on the boards, but I was wondering if Southwest Airlines participates in the resort airline check-in? I was thinking about flying with SW back home to Detroit, but if they don't use the resort check-in (tried it last time with Airtran and I loved it!) I may go with someone else. |

| No, SW does not participate in resort check-in.

| Unfortunately, SW is not a participant in the resort airline (luggage) check-in program at this time. You can check in for your flight 24 hours in advance of departure and print your boarding passes through your resort's lobby concierge (or at the parks), but baggage can't be checked. Hopefully this will change someday soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath! Having said that, I've flown SW on my last two trips and have been very happy with the service and, of course, the price! ![]() Have fun planning! - Laurie

| Your thread title has me confused as to what you are asking - DME and resort check-in are two completely separate things. Southwest does not, at this time, participate in WDW resort check-in. You can however, use DME even though you are flying Southwest. DME is simply the bus service between the airport and resort (yellow luggage tags). If you still use DME you just need to get your own luggage onto the DME bus and check it at the Southwest terminal when you leave.

| Sorry for the confusing thread title, it was late and I had all my Disney terminology mixed up!!! Anyways, I think we're going to go with Airtran. We used them last trip an were very happy with them. Thanks again for the help! |

| One other thing to consider as well....the price of tickets with SW vs. another airline might preclude teh convenience of checking your bags at your hotel due to the cost. We're flying SW in October, and it was more than $100 per ticket more expensive for us to fly with a participating airline vs. SW. To me, I'll save all that extra cash and just check my own bags when I get to the airport, but your milage may vary. If price was closer it might have swayed me one way or the other, but I could also get much better flight times with SW as well, so keep that in mind too. Good luck! Tim |

| We've always flown SW, and at the end of our trip, we just leave the luggage with the hotel bell hops (they have a storage room) and then when the DME bus comes, we get our luggage from the room, and go. It's not that hard to handle. The folks at the front desk will help with the online check in, but you just have to manage the luggage at the airport. |
