Stroller Question

Hi,
Last year we borrowed a stroller from our neighbor for our trip. It was smaller than our stroller and had a basket underneath and shade over top. This year I was planning on bring our usual stroller, which is collapsable, has the basket, and will shade my little guy. (Last year I worried the whole time that we would break our neighbors stroller with all the bussing and flying, so we figured we would just bring our own.) I am now thinking it may be a little too wide to fit throught the x-ray machine at the airport.

I don't know if I should just pick up a small stroller that fits our needs, even though my little guy is almost 3 and wont need a stroller much longer. (Also then I will have 3 strollers at home - -our everyday one, our little bitty one and the new one I would buy!) I have looked around at yard sales, but have had no luck.

Does anyone know if I can find out if the stroller will fit throught the x-ray machine. I dont want to hold the line up and then find out we cant get through with it. I've seen bigger ones, when waiting to get ours back after the flight.

Does anyone else worry about crazy things like this??? I am getting totally insane, with only 4 days to go!!!

Thanks everyone!

What kind of stroller is it? We've had everything from a big Graco to a smaller Maclaren through security with no problem. I do recommend bringing one, even older children still tend to want a ride towards the end of the day!

Don't change your plans for security screening which is 60 seconds of your trip. The TSA will guide you. I used to have a double stroller that they would wand. Don't spend extra $$ so the people behind you will get to their gate a minute or two sooner. You will be find with the stroller you already have.

They would wand ours too since it was a bigger one.

I wouldn't worry in the least. Let it be security's problem, not yours. Your big stroller will be just fine.

As others have said, if security can't fit your stoller thru the X-ray machine, they will do a manual check of teh stroller. We have travelled with larger and smaller strollers, and you'd be suprised at how big of a package will fit thru the machine. I didn't think our one stroller would fit, but it got thru okay, while the next time they did a manual search of it.

Just think, a wheelchair will not fit thru a screening machine, they have to check it somehow, right? Same procedure with a stroller. Fret not, and especially don't go spending more money than you actually need...you're taking away from your spending cash for darn sakes!! hehe....

Good luck, and more importantly, fear not!

I strongly suggest a stroller for a 3 year old Like Sara said, even older children need to rest, and I think sometimes we take for granted how much their little bodies can take. It'll avoid the meltdowns that will ruin a good trip in a second. Take whichever stroller you are comfortable with and TSA will deal with it accordingly.
