| Can bottled water be packed in a checked bag? I just found a case of water in the basement and I was thinking about packing 1/2 of it in a checked bag. My mom said they would probably explode since baggage section isn't pressureized. So she said "why don't you ask that board you go to all the time? They will know!" So I'm asking.... |

| I would think it would be fine. I mean, I pack shampoo, sunscreen and other bottles of liquid in my checked luggage and have had no issues with any of it exploding. I would guess it would just be heavy, so you'd have to weigh it beforehand to make sure you wouldn't have to pay extra.

| I packed 12 sixteen oz bottles of water for my son when he went to California with the school chorus for a trip last April and they were fine! He thought I was NUTS at first, until everyone else was paying $3 a bottle at the hotel and HIS were free!! I would just pad the bottles with something so they don't roll around - like a towel.

| They should be fine but if you're renting a car, I think making a stop en route to pickup a case would more convenient than lugging it in your suitcase. Especially with luggage weight being closely watched. Some other folks have posted about using some grocery delivery service which might work.

| We had to remove some bottles when flying back home due to weight but the attendant told us they would be thrown out anyway by security. However, when I got home, I noticed there were still 3 - 4 bottles that we missed that must not have been a problem. |

| in most cases, cargo areas are pressurized to about 8000 feet. you may want to consult with the airline for specifics. but as with others, i'd be more concerned with the weight, even if it's another suitcase. but if you fill it up and you're happy with it, that's fine. water is very heavy, weighing about 8 lbs per gallon.

| I think the water bottles would be fine. But I do agree to "pad" them with a towel or something. We packed water bottles, mountain dew (i know but it's my husbands "coffee"), and juice boxes. They all made it fine. But I was really nervous that the mountain dew would explode!!Just watch your weight and you should be fine! |

| We have packed Pepsi and Mt. Dew for the last 2 trips and we have never had a problem. We just pack them in Gallon size zip lock bags just in case. So far so good and we plan on packing some more this year. |

I too think it would be easier to make a stop if you will be renting a car. A good choice for grocery delivery service would be garden grocer. You can order online and it will be in your room when you get there. GardenGrocer.com, The Selection of a SUPERMARKET Delivered to Your Door!

| Sounds good to me! Then you will have an empty suitcase to fill up with merchandise

| As a courtesy to your fellow travelers, I'd make sure I bagged and double-bagged anything with liquid in them. I've had experiences where I retrieved a wet and stained suitcase at baggage claim that was obviously damaged by something outside of what I packed. Eileen

| I picked up some water at a Winn-Dixie market when I got there but I had a rental car.... I don't want to have anything liquid in my checked baggage that adds more weight since I pretty much crammed alot of things already.
