| Weighing baggage Does anyone have any tips for weighing their bags before getting to the airport. I tried our bathroom scale last summer and the numbers were hidden by the suitcase.

| I bought a portable luggage scale to take with. You loop it under the handle and pick up the bag. My problem is the coming home trip!

| We just use the bathroom scale. Sit it on an angle so we can see the numbers. Or you could weigh yourself, then pick up the bag, to see the difference.

![]() Or if you have Wii Fit (or know someone close who does) you can weigh yourself w/ and w/o the bag. That's what DH does and then you don't have to worry about being able to see the scale.

| I just get on the scale with the suitcase and subtract the difference of my own weight from the total. I usually make sure that it weighs less than 40 pounds to allow for the addition of souveniers bought on the trip since there is no scale at the resort (other than the one used for airline check-in at the resort and then it is too late.)

| We have the kind of bag like a duffle type with rollers, the guy at the airport told me good you didnt stuff it because they not only go by the weight but if it is overfull it is a problem even if it isnt 50 lbs. I saw thoes luggage scales and want to get one. I do the bathroom scale thing as well right now+

| We bought a portable scale for about 10.00 from Target. It loops on the handle and when you pick it up it weighs the suitcase. Then we just toss it in the suitcase for the return trip.

| I bought a luggage scale on Ebags. It's great to use. You just wrap straps around the handle of the suitcase and pick it up and the scale beeps when it is weighed and you can put it down and see how much the suitcase weighs. It really saved me money in the long run because last year when I weighed at home, the suitcase was over and it would have cost far more than the luggage scale itself. And then you can take it in your luggage so you can weigh your suitcases in the hotel before you return home. Those souvenirs can get heavy lol. Do a search for a coupon code for Ebags before going online and I bet you can get a discount code. I know some people who use a "fish scale". They aren't expense online. Here is a link to Ebags that shows some: - eBags Last edited by jenjen1127; 07-04-2009 at 08:43 PM.. |

| I use the portable scales, too. I keep it in my carryon. One time, when I transferred from Pop to CR, the scale got broken. I'm thinking the airlines are even rougher on the suitcases than the CMs at Disney. (But maybe they're about the same???) I used to do the step on the scale, subtract my weight method. That worked because we have a digital scale, so I could step off the the number would still be showing on the screen. Since I'll only be bringing 1 suitcase instead of my usual 2 on the next trip (first time I'll be paying luggage fees!

| I weigh myself and then weigh myself with the bag on our bathroom scale. Thankfully, my scale says things weight more than they do so I'm always safe at the airport.
