I just saved around $70 on my car rental!!! Here's how:

I'm renting a car during my August visit. I've been fishing around the net here and there for car rental pricing and couldn't believe how horrible the rates have been for a week's rental.

The other night, DH found a travel agent on E -BAY who is saving us $70 or so by using his own discount codes as a licensed travel agent. Here's how it all worked:

First and foremost I checked out his reputation and feedback..which was a 100% excellent rating with all wonderful comments from happy customers.

Then we gave him our travel dates and times and asked what he would come up with for a price (he did not ask us for any information other than our first and last name...he did not need our address or credit card info).

He got back to us later that day with an actual email confirmation for Budget Car Rental with a price about $70 lower than what I've been seeing (it included the taxes and fees in that price as well).

I then called Budget myself, and sure enough they had me in their system already with my confirmed discounted rate (and I made sure as well that the rate did include all taxes and fees..and it did). All I have to do is show up at the rental counter on my arrival date and provide my license and credit card.

I then got back to the EBay seller and paid him through paypal...his fee was ONLY $14!!!!

So, it is all legitimate, and I got a great savings. Just thought you'd like to know in case you were searching for car rental rates. If you're interested, send me a private message, and I'll pass the info along to you.

Interesting. I am booked with 3 car agencies for my 2+ weeks in Aug before driving up to WDW. When I get to Disney, I'm returning the car and using WDW transp. I am finding rates go up and down so quickly. Up one day, then drops by $200 the next, then back up Not sure I'd want to lock in a rate, because of the crazy fluctuations.

Very interesting. I use both the discount codes on Mousesavers and coupons on rentalcarmomma to come up with decent price. I usually book early and then check amd recheck often.

I've been seeing the fluctuations over the past few months myself, which was why I was getting so discouraged. From a Tuesday to Tuesday rental, the lowest I found at one point a few weeks ago was around $240 with taxes/fees. I checked last week and it went up to $270. This agent got it for me for $192...an offer I couldn't refuse. I didn't think I was going to do better than that. Are you being charged extra because you are dropping it off at another location? I noticed they do charge you for something like that as well.
