Car Rentals in Jan 2010 deals?

Anyone renting a car at WDW in Jan find any good rates? I'm flying to MCO and taking DME for our WDW trip, then leaving WDW 1/25 to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale for 5 days, then flying home from there. I have reserved from Alamo WDW Car Care and Budget from DTD Doubletree, both are $288.00 and returning car to Ft. Lauderdale airport. Waiting to see if price drops. Anyone get a good deal? I used Costco discount.

I was hoping to get a deal for December with no luck. The prices seem a little high to me. But I hope you find a deal, and if you do, let us know!

Prices have been high for awhile, even for my August trip. Yikes. Hope they come down for us both!

Prices have been high, but I checked last night from my trip next week and got a rental for $29.67 a day (with my passholder discount). My December rental is about $54. So just keep checking back.

The question is........has anyone tried renting a car in the reverse order for one way rates? For example Sue M. your one way rental to Ft. Lauderdale will cost you extra for the service of them returning it to Orlando. Car rentals, of the same company, do not always exchange their cars and wait a few days befor they are returned.

Maybe call car companies at their 800 phone number and see if you can rent a car returning to Ft. Lauderdale and get a discount or better rate.

It wouldn't hurt to ask. Call a couple car rentals and inquire if they have this type return service.

If you are returning a car be sure and check their opening and/or closing time or you might br charged an extra day's rental.

Do not leave the keys under the mat or behind the visor or elsewhere on returns. Be sure ans inspect the car for all damages before and after returns and be sure they sign for the return. Fill the gas tank to the level you received it if you can. Car rentals generally charge you a higher price if they fill it.

If you only get a one way rental, Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale be sure the contract specifies one way between those cities. A little caution and time might save you some money.

That's a good idea, trying to see if I can rent a car that needs to return to Ft. Lauderdale. I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

The prices for December have been high. However, I got some good news for anyone looking at a December trip:

I was just able to book with Priceline for $16/day with Alamo. The trip is for 7 days between Dec 1 @ 11 AM to Dec 7 @ 3 PM. I've been trying Priceline dozens of times and finally got a good offer accepted. So keep it up and I'm sure you'll get something.

Can you do one-way rentals on Price-line? Like I'm renting in WDW, and returning to Ft. Lauderdale? Can you spec. the car company, like Alamo and Disney Care Care Center pick up? I've never used Priceline.

I used Priceline two years ago. Although it was less expensive you do not get to pick which rental company you get. You make your bid and you have to take the car company you are accepted by. They immediately charge your credit card and there are no refunds. I'm not sure if you can make a bid to pick up a car at the Car Care Center. I made the bid to pick up at the airport and I got Hertz.
