I always fly with gum in my bag. And I don't put it in my ziploc.

Well, if you chew the gum with the liquid center, maybe TSA would expect it to be in your 1 quart clear zip bag, but if it's just regular sticks of gum, they do not consider that to be either a liquid or gel - you should be fine.

I have never had an issue bringing gum. I will say most airports I have traveled in don't sell gum as it is a mess issue. Bring it you will be fine!

We always fly with tons of gum in our carry-ons.
DH tried to go through with it in his pockets once, and set of the metal detector - from the foil wrapper!!

Never had a problem with gum in the carry-on before. We tend to have a whole buffet of snacks with us, which has also always been "ok." (just no drinks unless you buy them AFTER the security checkpoint!)
