Congrats! I am so happy for you! I really hope this means that EB is not taking off. (Sorry about that pun! ) I paid for EB in a panicked moment, but I am hoping Southwest rethinks this program!

On Saturday, my dad checked in 90 minutes after his 24 hour mark for a Sunday flight and they still got A 40-something! This makes me happy, as we are getting our boarding passes tomorrow morning and there are 6 of us in the party.

Well Done! We don't fly SW as the price is always at least $100 more a ticket but I would be upset with an added "optional"fee.

That's great! I just don't think that many did the EB check-in. JMHO

Either way for us SWA is the best way to fly. Less fees that you are
required to pay.

I am debating whether to do the early bird check in. Ds will be 18 months at the time of our trip and I am worried about not getting in the A group or getting seats that we like. I have enough anxiety with just wondering how he is going to do on the flight since it has been 11 months since he last flew. I just don't know if its worth it. Why would they offer something to give some people an advantage when the old way worked just fine. We also prefer southwest, no bag fees and cheap fares, can't beat $59 each way!
